Re: Claymore

Hop on over to OneManga and choose Claymore Extra Scene from the manga titles.

http://www.onemanga.com/Claymore_Extra_Scene/

As for how Priscilla lost her memory, it seems that it was probably a result of her awakening. She wasn't very stable to begin with, and Teresa shattered what was left. Her regression was most likely at the same time as her awakening, but only later were the results noticeable.

Re: Claymore

Thing is she was already unstable before became a awakened being. But in the anime it said that she wasn't all the way awakened so when she fully awakened her memories came back, but she was so a little loopy......

Re: Claymore

Most likely, she was suppressing the memories of what happened to her family. If I remember correctly, her father was replaced by a yoma, who then slaughtered her entire family before she got lucky and killed it. At that time, she was still a young child, and the trauma of such an event doesn't just go away. Faced with the horror of what had happened, she convinced herself that the reason she lived was to bring justice against the yoma and those who opposed the Organization, her new family. She built her entire life on that, and Teresa shattered that foundation.

With that support crumbling, she began to lose control, desperately needing to defeat Teresa to prove that justice would triumph, more to herself than the world. Unable to defeat Teresa as a human, she Awakened, and found the strength needed. The fact that she became a monster to carry out justice was probably what destroyed the last of her belief in justice, as she was now a being she had sworn to kill. To survive the conflict of her Claymore existence and her current life, she regressed to a time when the question of justice didn't exist for her: Childhood. And as Jet said in Cowboy Bebop, there's nothing quite so cruel as a child; they don't understand the pain of others, and so think only of their own pleasure. The perfect mind for an Awakened Being of immeasurable power...

Re: Claymore

yeah, I've read Extra Scenes 1 and 2, but didn't know there were more ^^; I've just been wandering around hopelessly, without knowledge of further chapters..

it kind of bites that even if the manga gets started again, it'll only be released monthly. wow, depression.

anyway, by the sound of things, I should probably pick up the anime finally I haven't watched any episodes yet, but since I'm finished with the existing chapters I might as well take a look. I hear the plot is different in the adaptation, too...

I'm finished babbling to myself now. time for ice cream!

I dig Claymore, I picked up the manga by chance, and since then my friend has been downloading the anime, it's pretty badass.

Re: Claymore

I just read the whole manga in 2 days. It's great, I really like it. I adore everything which has to do with with middle-age.
I am about to watch the anime now. The animation is awesome. I hope they will give them good voices.

Re: Claymore

I think it's a result of the views America has on cartoons. In general, Americans view cartoon shows as minor things for children, and so significant talents rarely take notice. On top of that, due to this view, they tend to misjudge the target audience of the show, and so the dubbing groups have to change certain content to meet the standards for the perceived target audience.

Beyond that, there are narrow markets for anime in America. The major money comes from the networks, which usually place the shows as children's entertainment, and thus avoid shows with adult themes. Naruto, for example, is more of a young adult's show than a kid's show, but there's no real place for such a show.

I have seen some good signs, though. Adult Swim, for instance, said they probably wouldn't show Berserk, because they'd have to butcher the show to meet their network's requirements. Certain movie channels have anime blocks, where they can show them without fear of swearing or sexual innuendo. Unfortunately, it'll still be some time before the quality of the voice actors improves much.
