basically since he was phased out as a possible main villain, i realized something. Mainly his soul stealing jutsu, his obsession with DNA for self-realization. From what you all are speculating about Pein/Pain. DO you think Oro knew somewhat about Pein's abilities, saw the advantage in them and sought out to develope simimalr jutsus around them. I mean basically Oro wanted long life to learn the secret of everything, to be the ultimate being.

It does seem possible that some of Orochimaru's creations follow the path of Pain. Edo Tensei seems like a more vile form of Pain's advanced clone technique, and the body transfer is similar on a basic level. If there is a connection, I suspect it's that Orochimaru devised his techniques based on his previous experiments and observing Pain's. However, Orochimaru's jutsus are flawed in comparison, especially his body transfer.

That's a good theory but there are several variables that don't add up. One being that he was already working on forbidden jutsu's (the soul transfer if I remember correctly) before he joined Akatsuki.

Yeah. I think that every Akatsuki member was recruited for their special abilities besides gathering the bijuu.

Oro for this ability for cloning or edo tensei
Zetsu and Konan for scouting
Deidara for the Bangs (ART IS A BANG)
Sasori for the Reconnaissance
Hidan and Kakuzu for the money gathering
Itachi for the sharingan

Well, the question is, who actually needs it. I doubt if that is Pein, since the man behind the scene was always Tobi. and Tobi was recruited just as replacement for sasori, didin't show any special ability.

Actually i think that ORo just didn't know Pain's secret, since pein seemed to hide the actual missions from the rest of akatsuki. I see that else than konan and zetsu, nobody in aktsuki that tobi was the real commander.

oro was in charge of the seals.... thats why sealing bijuu's took so much longer

Orochimaru didn't pick up nothing from pein he was already working on the sul transfer jutsu in konoha when sarutobi caught him then he fleed from konoha and most likely after joined aka so this theory is flawed.
