Heres what I think happened

Pain is Yodaime. How? Well, when he sealed kyuubi, he lost his body. Maybe, just maybe Yodaime found a way to return from the dead in a spirit form, but u can't return as someone u were before death. He returned mad, and the bad part of kyuubi is sealed inside him, that's what helped him survive the sealing jutsu. That's why Pain is evil. He is the dark side of Yodaime...I think this could be it.

Scene changes to Sasuke’s group.

Crow: *kuaaaah!”

The team moves rapidly with Sasuke at its head.

Karin: I’m getting the same chakra scattered all around us…. What the hell’s gong on!

Suigetsu: Should we change direction, Sasuke?

Sasuke: Pay no attention to it. We’ll cut straight through.

Suigetsu: That’s a relief. Detours leave me tired.

Scene changes to Naruto.

Naruto opens his eyes, and before him appears Sasuke’s team.

Naruto: Sasukeeeee!!!

As Sasuke runs past, he delivers a chidori to Naruto, who vanishes with a pop.

Karin: What was that just now?

Suigetsu: Kagebunshin.

Sasuke: Naruto…doesn’t know when to quit, does he.

Scene changes to Team Naruto.

Naruto: Found him!

Yamato: !

Kiba: Nice going, Naruto! Which way?

Naruto: This way!

Naruto: You’re not getting away this time, Sasuke!

Scene changes to Jiraiya

He emerges from the frog’s mouth, transformed into the guy he was interrogating.

Jiraiya: You return to Konoha. Once there, go to Ibiki. He knows what to do.

Frog: Gekoh!

The frog goes underwater.

Jiraiya: Hope this fools them. Right then!

Paper butterflies fly about. Konan is there.

The butterflies gather in a single place and form Konan (I'm assuming the scene changes to where Pain is.)

? : Well?

Konan: … It’s Jiraiya.

? : … you don’t say! Jiraiya-Sensei…sure brings back memories.

We see the speaker is Pain, with a different appearance.

Konan: What will you do, Pain?

Pain: Kill him, of course. I’ve no regrets at this point. I came out in this body to kill the intruder. Lead the way.

Konan: Understood.

A single sheet of paper from Konan’s body becomes a paper airplane.

Konan: Pain…I’ll keep him busy until you get there.

Konan peels and scatters again.

Pain: Go ahead and kill him if you’re up to the task.

Pain follows the paper airplane’s lead.

Scene changes to Jiraiya

Jiraiya: !

Pieces of paper flutter in large numbers around Jiraiya as he starts to walk.

Jiraiya: !

The papers attack Jiraiya.

Jiraiya: Wha - !?

He’s covered by the pieces of paper.

Jiraiya: Uwah!

The papers start sticking to Jiraiya.

Konan appears and creates something like a spear out of paper.

Jiraiya: Uh….

Jiraiya is unable to move.

And then, the real Jiraiya appears, having undone the “henge” from the shadows.

Jiraiya: Ka-ton: Endan!

Jiraiya blows fire.

Konan emerges from within the smoke.

Konan: Gama-hirakage(?)-ayatsuri no jutsu…

A bunshin coughs (whose, I don’t get).

Jiraiya breaths air and returns the burned form to its original shape.

Jiraiya: The bait was intended to lure this Pain person out, but I never imagined you’d be the one to bite. Not only have your jutsu improved, but you’ve grown into a mighty fine woman indeed, Konan.

Just what past do Konan, Pain and Jiraiya share?

Next time: When (they) were student (s?) and teacher!

I don't know...if Pain is Yondaime, then that would be sort of like a Star Wars plot. Pain meets up with Naruto, and tells him hes his father and he should join him and together they can rule the world and so on and so forth and Naruto screams NOOOO thats not possible. Then again I don't know, so far everything's going in all directions. Before 370 I wouldn't have even guessed Pain or Konan even knew Jiraiya. Well I guess we'll see what happens real soon.

I don't buy it 4th Hokage.. Follow a silly airplane instead of just I dunno, konan throw a kunai or something with the 4th's special seal for flying god tech mebbe.. I dunno.. either way it turns out, I'm still enjoying this plenty :-)

We're all just kind of assuming because of what's been happening (Tobi = Madara, Yondaime = Naruto's dad, etc). But not everything is that plain, simple, and predictable. Yes partner i agree jiraiya could have has many different students or helped other squads in missions and any respectful person calls his teacher sensei,even kiba call kakashi-sensei so you cannot assume things like he is yondaime.

Second orochimaru tried to summon minato before in the hokage fight but sarutobi prevented it so there's your proof.

Either way no offence to anyone here as it is a prediction thread and you are allowed to assume,but i garuntee that whoever this guy is its nopt YONDAIME 100% GARUNTEE IT..

Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. Why is it that most people think that if Jaraiya was indeed Pein's teacher then he must be the 4th. Why can't it be that Jaraiya's team consisted of Pein, Minato and Konan, unless of course you guys already know the identity of the third member of that squad.

Personally I do not think that Pein is Yondaime. However if that did turn out to be the case then it would make the storyline absolutely ridiculous. I say this because the 4th has always been portrayed as the greatest shinobi that ever lived in the narutoverse. Therefore if he did seal the dark chakra of the 9 tails within himself then that would make him not just evil but also even more of a bad ass than he already was. The fusion of the 9 tails chakra into a vessel such as Minato would make him practically invincible. And that being said I can't see how someone as powerful as that would turn around and take orders from Tobi/Madara...a guy who lost to the 1st hokage. If Pein was indeed Yondaime then the only person that should be able to defeat him is Naruto after he learns how to control the demon fox's chakra and use it to his advantage.
