Alright guys, let's try this out. In this thread, you can talk all you want about the music business, as long as you stay on topic and don't make pointless posts. Discuss your favorite artists, who you like and why--get into debates about who's a better band or rapper--talk about the latest music news and bulletins--just keep it on topic and keep yourself in check.

There are only two rules.

1. Absolutely NO spamming. For those who are confused, the fact that you're having a conversation about music does not necessarily mean that it must be spam. You can talk about music and still be completely on topic, as long as you're making worthwhile posts. This means that short and pointless posts will be treated as they would in any other thread--deleted and the poster infracted.

I'll start this off with the Foo Fighters and their new Cd it came out about a week ago i think it was really, I never listened to their old stuff but now I always keep their new CD in my car.

He only got famous 'cause he was in nirvana, simply a biproduct of the band who made grundge what it is.

They realy dont have alot of talent, they havnt realy done anything amazing, and their lyrics arnt that great either. The best latest band I have to say would be serj's solo project. Other then that I dont think main stream music is all that great anymore

Your right on the money. Though I don't even think Nirvana did much. All they really did was sound like Mudhoney and some of the Melvins material. Kurt Cobain's riffs were the only thing they had going for them.

I like soulja boi and all, but all those other "Crank Dat" songs get on my nerves, lol. I was in class today, first period, and the girl next to me had a CD player that she was listening to with ALL of the Crank songs on it, and she made me listen to the Lion King one and I'm sittin' there like, "Dude...wtf, this is lame". And she goes and starts dancing. <__<;

I can't do any of them either. XD
But everyone at my job can. Like, if it's slow for some reason, somebody might start singing it and then like anyone who hears it busts out with the Superman.

Agreed, but I was making refrence to how they are the so called ""Godfathers of grunge" or some stupid nickname like that. Also his riffs were not that amazing, they were simple and overly distorded. I personaly love nirvana but I dont think anything about them was great.

You haven't heard Soulja Gurl yet? I like that song, too, but like, you know how when the...shit, I forgot what the dance is called...you know that retarded dance that D4L and them made up where they snap and everything, and then it was put into like every damn song afterwards? Well in Souja Gurl he does that "YOOUUU" thing in it and it's like....it doesn't fit...it just sounds so awkward. XD

But now people at my work are going around singing, "YA GOTTA WALK IT OUT...TA BE MY SOUJA GURL~" and on the time cards, people are writing "souja gurl" under their names. What's funny is that it was like the whitest girl you'll ever meet who first did it. XD

I've only heard the Lion King and the Superman...I don't know if I wanna hear the rest of the Crank Dat songs. XD

I've listened to them like, once. I saw the video for that Seize the Day one and thought it was a good song, but I never really took the time out to go and search for their other stuff to listen to, I guess cause it never really hit me that hard, ya know?

I've never heard the Beast and the Harlot...but if you're raving so much about A7X then I think I might check them out...as soon as I decide that I'll stop being lazy and head over to Isohunt, of course. You might have to keep reminding me on that one.


Does anyone listen to punk? My friend Bobby is like, a punk guy, and he's always raving about how I should listen to punk since I listen to practically everything else, but I have no idea what bands are and aren't punk. I usually just listen to whatever regardless of the genre.

And also, to those music jockeys: what the fuck is emo screamo?

Emo Scremo is music where they scream into the thing and have bad instrumentals and when they're called up on it they claim its to convey a message. =]

No. Avenged Sevenfold is now a corporate heavy metal band and before they were a corporate metalcore band. If you a record dealer then they are a good band, but if you are looking for music, as in the art form, then you can count them out.

Well you sure got lucky. You won't find anything special in their discography.

Do yourself a favor and don't.

1. I listen to punk. If you want good punk bands check out the originals like:

The Ramones
The Sex Pistols
The Clash
The Fall.

2. First of all Screamo is the name of the genre. It is a mix of emo, which is the worst genre name ever because all must is emotional, and screaming vocals. It is not bad at all and in fact there is this screamo band called Circle Takes the Square that have sick instrumentals. They are definitely technical and are surely original.

First of all if you are concerned more with the screaming then don't listen to music at all because vocals are the least important instrument in a band. Second of all I am about to give you many technical and original screamo bands, which are 10x more talented then "Avenged Sevenfold:"
