Reviving dead threads

Why is this offensive? I don't understand why people get infractions for reviving a dead thread.

Re: Reviving dead threads

if it's dead, leave it. simple enough. reasoning is simple. No one's going to post in a really dead thread and it just pushes new threads down. nothing benefits.

Re: Reviving dead threads

Well, here's the other thing: let's say someone made a thread about your favorite dance type, but it was made in 2005. Then someone this years makes the same thread, but they still get in trouble for it. What the hell? Topping a dead thread isn't all that bad, as opposed to creating a new thread when the same topic was already around.

I understand that. That is 2 years old, but what if you revive a thread thats like a week old? That's still the same category.

Re: Reviving dead threads

I actually don't think they'd hit you with an infraction so long as you're actually adding something meaningful to the thread, as opposed to just bumping it up just to say something stupid like "lol lyke I agree w/dis!"

Then again, that's just how I figured it worked. Because that would make sense. Who knows how things actually go down...

Re: Reviving dead threads

If you revive a thread for a good reason (new information / something completely new to add) then nobody will mind... But if you go into a three month dead thread and just say some blather that's been heard a million times before, it's almost like you're spamming. If you have any other questions, PM me.
