ok it seems that in order for itachi to get he had to kill his best friend, and sasuke (we don't know) doesn't seem to have it yet, i've read all the manga, did i miss anything, how did kakashi develop the Mangekyou Sharingan, any ideas at least

Itachi read instructions under the Uchiha temple. Those directions said he had to kill his best friend so thats what he did.

Kakashi trained extensively to create his MS technique. With as much experience as Kakashi has with using his Sharingan, he has to have acquired a great deal of knowledge about how the Sharingan works. Add in the fact that Kakashi is one of the top geniuses in the entire Nin world, and you have one of the few people in Narutoverse that would be capable of creating a Sharingan technique.

He said himself that he "created" a new technique in the first episodes of Shippuuden. Later he revealed that the MS jutsu was the technique that he tried to tell them about when they walked away. (for ramen I think)

EDIT:
The Uchiha clan being natural carriers of the Sharingan, have a natural affinity with its use. Kakashi is not a natural carrier therefore he lacks this affinity. This is how he learned to create a jutsu for the Sharingan that seemingly, had fixed abilities.

Think of it like this. A right handed person (An Uchiha in this case) writes a sentence with his right hand. No big deal right? A left handed person (Kakashi) would require great practice and effort to do perform the same feat. The left handed person had to learn how to use his right hand whereas to a right handed person, it comes naturally.

Essentially, because of the Uchiha's natural affinity, they never needed to acquire Kakashi's knowledge/understanding of the Sharingan. They never needed to work as hard as Kakashi to use the Sharingan and as such, never actually learned as much about how the Sharingan works. I think its entirely possible to learn any technique capable with the Sharingan simply with enough understanding of how it works.

Yes you said it Oakgyrl I believe kakashi got it because he lost someone dear to him and might have blamed himself for what happened triggering some kind of effect.

Then again having said sasuke lost his whole clan and blamed himself for not being strong enough and well lol he doesn't have it yet,perhaps kakashi trained very hard over 2/1/2 years.

Oh i also think there is no way to assume a possible way because every way we assume another character would be involved in a situation like that and it would nullify,the effect of the original one lol hope that made any sense.

the ms requires for the death of a dear friend for it to be activated right...

all of kakashi's loved ones, close friends died already like he had already mentioned to sasuke. maybe the ms is the consolation for the death of those who are close to him,anyways his bestfriend his dead after all...so there ms.

The fact that Kakashi didnt get the MS as soon as he came to this realization pretty much disproves that. He has known that for a long time, and plainly admitted it. If that was what made Kakashi get the MS, then he would have gotten it long ago. Just because it was written that you need to kill your best friend to get the MS doesnt make it so. Case in point, Kakashi didnt kill his best friend yet he still got the MS. The kill-friend requirement doesnt hold any water anymore.

Better yet. Look at the kill-friend requirement. Killing your friend would have absolutely no affect to a person physically or in anyway that would affect the chakra system. Killing your friend would have a massive affect on you mentally. I think its pretty safe to assume that Kakashi somehow learned about the MS and its kill-friend requirement. If Kakashi was able to learn how that change in a person's psyche affects the Sharingan, then its entirely possible to recreate that affect to meet the requirement.

Also, the kill-friend requirement got Itachi the genjutsu and the black flame jutsus. (dont remember the names off hand) As far as we know, Itachi doesnt have the teleportation jutsu. Its entirely possible that these are the only 2 jutsus that would require the "kill-friend prerequisite".

I'm going to look at this in a psychological way. Because it was Obito's eye, that was given to Kakashi, Kakashi had always thought of Obito as a good(maybe best) friend. As the eye shifted to Kakashi, it took a while for it to adjust, but when it had, it adjusted to Kakashi's own feelings, which then Obito was killed by that rock.

My speculation is that the exact wording of the scroll was not one must kill your best friend, but rather something else. I think that killing your best friend was Itachi's interpretation of the scroll. Might have some thing more along the lines of disconnecting your self from those things close to you and relying more fully on the eye. Pure speculation of course. I just have a hard time believing the scroll wrote out exactly that one must kill the best friend.

I've been thinkin' as I've for some time (as some ppl have), that Kakashi either got MS through some sort of link with Obito's body (If Tobi is Obito, I still am a firm hater of Obito's being obssessed by Madara) or Kakashi got it through sheer talent... Or a possiblity could be as some say, the "blame-thingy"..

What I think is that he got it after going to the memorial to pay his respects for Obito, thinkin back at the times where hes screwed up...eventually he thought of something about Obito or any of his other friends that helped unlock his Ms.

I know that I stated this before, but I'll state it again. I believe that Kakashi obtained the MS by altering the chakra (which belongs Obito) that's in the left eye. By altering the chakra that's within the eye, the tomoe seal is resolved in order to reshape the new tomoe seal (which gives it a new shape or design). As far as assigned jutsu(s) for the new Sharingan goes... I believe that (with the exception of Itachi's MS) the jutsu(s) can be assigned based on what the user wants it/them to be. I believe that's the case because I remember Kakashi telling Naruto that Naruto has more chakra than him and that it's going to take some time to complete the jutsu. That's my opinion on the matter.

Its psychological it got to be. Ive been saying this kind of stuff a long time ago Kakashi blamed himself for Obito's death that which in turn trigger the MS. Well ofcorz others will say "If thats true then Kakashi would have the MS during Kakashi Gaiden and so cannot be plausible." but there's is also no proof that killing your best friend will immediately get you the higher level of MS (as far as my knowledge go)

Maybe its takes time to develop MS and killing your best friend is like what Eighty6ed said its just pre-requisite, a trigger.

Its different with Sasuke. Sasuke didnt blame himself for the massacre of his entire clan because of him being weak he just wanted revenge.
