There was a scandal, and all the men and women were merely players, each a history belonging ever so darkly to his or her past. Every tale more insidious and ignominious than the last.

Oh, yes, there was scandal.

The woman in the peacock blue? That wasn't her first husband, and she was nothing more than a two-timing adulteress. And a murderer. There was a happenstance, you see -- one in which she met the man Jean Pierre Auguste. They became lovers, and somewhere along the way poison was slipped into the drink of a certain someone, and the rest is history. She used the "died of a heart attack" story.

The boat's owner, reclining ever so "calmly" in the flipped chair, he had just narrowly finished washing the blood of a friend off his hands before the party, the body cleverly reposing beneath the floorboards. He would utilise the "moved on" excuse.

The bearded fellow staring into the distance had no fault within him -- that is, until his late wife discovered his true identity, a duplicitous Cossack trained in the intent of political assassination. ...She was 'eliminated', "run off with an Englishmen", naturally.

The girl kissing the puppy? Well, she had a scandal of her own.

That wasn't the original dog, you see. When one is careless under the hooves of larger animals...I'm sure you understand. Knowing her mother would fall into an awful wrath as surely as "megachurch" is synonymous with "sexcapades", and "teacher" for "paedophile", she merely replaced the animal, both physically and in affections. After all, "dogs have growth spurts too, you know".

Yes, this is a game. __________________ THE IMPERIAL SWINE DRAW CLOSER GRAB YOUR RATIONS AND RUN, youth is the belief that anything is possible; aging, 'a lot less is possible than i originally thought. i shouldn't even try.' a young person of 8 will feel wonder and energised. the feeling of being 16 years old will inevitably be missed by those who are no longer 16 years old. when a 17-year-old wears old clothes, it accentuates his individuality and sense of irony. when a 37-year-old wears old clothes, it accentuates the fact he is 37. a divorced 42-year-old man will think, 'sure would be cool if i could hook up with a 22-year-old girl'. After weeks of bar-hopping, the smart ones at least, will amend, 'sure would be cool if i could hook up with a 22-year-old girl...who's an old soul.' the puzzle with the essence of youth is that no one has it anymore. fortunately, the loss of youth was solved by vegetarians who didn't eat many vegetables, but did smoke a lot of grass, so everything is perfect. ...too perfect.
