The three strikes rule is when a person gets three separate auto-ban infractions they get a perm. ban. Miburo only has one strike against him.

You're totally missing the point. (To answer your question, just so you can't say "HA-HA! Told you that you couldn't!" Or whatever, I distinctively remember Shika reporting someone for flaming in a thread he made, then bragging about getting the kid banned while showing no reason to assume he was actually offended by it. The point is that people get banned for some amount of time before they can get their infractions reversed because the mods act first and ask questions lat...wait, actually never. You've got to PM them and tell them the low-down. Not only that, but people are naturally lazy and/or stupid. They might not be offended, but just don't feel like PMing people to get someone unbanned; or they don't check the infractions section and may not even realize that the person was banned for the flame.

The way things are set up now are ass-backwards. If someone is upset about something and want the person who flamed them to be punished they're definitely going to report it. If they don't give a shit, they probably won't. This way you don't have to ban people for any amount of time unjustly, don't have to guess, and don't have to ask questions or force people to PM your asses all the time. A passive style is overall a vastly superior and effective way of doing things in compared to the current set up, no questions asked. That's the point.

Eh, I remember the incident exactly.

Also, even though it's better that you're back, the reason Shino gave for your ban reversal is such shit it's not even funny.

Miburo, what exactly are we supposed to do if someone reports a post and claims to be offended and they're lying? If we find out that they aren't we can always undo the infraction. Seriously, how can you even make this complaint?

And it's not like we give out infractions for things that DON'T break the rules. It's simple: Break them and you get punished. In fact, we give people a ton of leeway to get out of these infractions. We double check the thread to see the context of it. If someone breaks the no flaming rule and the victim doesn't care, we don't do anything. We now have a way to give out infractions for minor insults.

It's a forum. It's not perfect but it's as good as it gets.
