Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
Alright, from the spoiler about the newest chapter: the bout between Sasuke and itachi takes a halt as Sasuke askes his question and recieves a interesting answer. In that chapter Sasuke reveals what was written in the tome underneath the Uchiha temple in part one. Itachi reveals some information about the massacre, but the interesting bit is that his statement about only appearing nice to Ssauke when they were young (long before the massacre) as only a means to measure Sasuke's "capacity." He even goes to imply that him and Madara were working together and knew that the Uchiha clan would be killed..... but Sasuke wasn't. So from that we all know that Sasuke set out to avenge his clan and kill Itachi because he saw Itachi as the one that killed everyone. From there he leaves konoha, Naruto and such. Well in the battle in part one, he mentions that it is too late when Naruto tried to reach him in the battle. We all took that to mean that Sasuke meant it was too late for Naruto to change Sasuke's mind about it all since he sought power and left to go to Oro for more power faster. Well he spared him there as to not gain the MS the way Itachi spoke up and the way we all thought he learned more in the temple.
Now for part two, in part two we see that Sasuke at first attempted to kill Naruto because he was in the way at the Oro hideout. He said that he broken the ties that Naruto was trying to mend. So it was a thought that Sasuke had truely turned dark and bad. Then we saw that Sasuke finally realizes what was helping Naruto in their battle from part one when he surpress the Kyuubi inside Naruto. From those words from thekyuubi abotu Madara, Sasuke mentions that why should he know about that guy (obviously he did though... just not the connection). Then we see that Sasuke kills oro and moves on to hunt Itachi. In the mist he attacks Naruto again without hessitation. We all see that he wants to kill Itachi, but think it is just for the reason of revenge. As they meet now, we see that Sasuke also wanted to ask another question because he has another goal as well. He wants to know who is the other MS user that his brother spoke of when they were younger. Assuming that he wants to kill the person soo. So here the theory: Since Sasuke learned in part one (revealed now though) that the Sharingan MS is used to control the Kyuubi, and that he has to kill his best friend to obtain it.... Sasuke's leaving Konoha may have had more to it than just revenege. yes on the surface he left to gain power and kill itachi - which is a good enough reason alone. But his fight with Naruto showed to him and Naruto had more to him than he had first realised, but didn't know what it was. In part two, he learns of the kyuubi being in Nrauto all that time. Which would have led to him doing to things. he first was pushing Naruto away to somewhat protect him since he didn't want to kill him. So cut him as the best friend in order to save his life somewhat. In part two, he then attempts to be as though he would kill him, but really may have been trying to send a message to Naruto to leave him alone because he was persuing people that have the ability to control the kyuubi and thus he would die and have a fate worst than death. So attacking him again (even though it was a bushin) would have been a way of leaving a message to say leave me alone again but for a different reason (of course Naruto wouldn't get that type of message since he wants Sasuke back). And to bring it all together, with this info in this last chapter, Sasuke's actions up to this point could have been just more justified as he is somewhat trying to protect Naruto as he learns more of Naruto's ploy in this situation for just being the container of the Kyuubi. So even though i hate to say it..... this information in this chapter could validate that Sasuke has been a good guy most of time and just took a different route to get strong enough to protect others that he does care about but has had to shred his superficial feelings for in order to do what he has been doing. What do you guys think? I'll answer the gap questions as they come in teh thread.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
Sasuke being a good guy and get revenge...that is why so many people call him emo!
And the fact that they call him emo results of the knowledge that Sasuke is a good guy! Yep that is right. Remember Chapter 350? Page 8 Bunch of CS2 guys confront Karin, Sasuke and Suigetsu. Sasuke: Do not attack their vital points. Suigetsu: HA HA HA ... You are such a leaf ninja, man. You should have killed the other guy. Sasuke is good after all. |

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
Perhaps, although I don't think Itachi and Madara can controlled the Kyuubi at this point in time. If Madara could manipulate the Kyuubi, there would be no reason to abstract Naruto's bijuu. If Madara could use the Mangekyou sharingan to drag out the Kyuubi, both Naruto and the beast would die, as they are so closely bonded. But then again, that's just conjecture. But there is a reason why Naruto was chosen to hold the Kyuubi's powers. Perhaps Naruto being the holder of the Kyuubi prevents the Uchiha from making use of it. I believe there is much more to this whole scenario. But
edit: Sasuke is not really all that bad, he's just has an advanced kill instinct.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
sasuke was and is a good guy... somehow... he is a good guy cus he doesn't kill all that stand in his way(example: when he was training with oro and the one d1v gave)... he's a bad guy cus' he left the leaf village, didn't care about anyone there, and went to train with the enemy... but i think thats just following u're "dream"... i dunno... i just don't see sasuke as a bad guy

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
I couldn't tell I wanna believe so much that Sasuke is a god guy after all. All I know was that I found it really suspicious when he never accepted to kill people, other than "the right one", who after this spoiler, turn to be 2 guys he wants to kill. So I wondered why Sasuke is still so "soft". If he's life was only hate and desire to kill Itachi, then his soul shouldn't care about anything else, thus it should be the same thing for him if he kills other people o not.
So, yah, that's what I found suspicious and started to think that Sasuke has a chance to be "the good guy" again. Dunno what to prefer, to me it's ok if he's either bad or good. Both situations should have a interesting outcome in the manga.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
I'm not fully saying that he is a good guy through and through, but just that the evidence could mount to him being a good guy. While there is still evidence that he could turn bad. At this point in time, Sasuke's actions could be taken in either way in light of the new revelation in information given to us. But remember that Sasuke didn't know all this while he was doing all this..... so its only speculation. Yet it is true that Sasuke has obtained a growing killing instinct.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
Well I think I'd be cool if he went bad,but I think he's gonna end up good.I think that cause in like ep 150 something or something close to that he had the chance to kill Naruto, but didn't.I'm still hopin' he goes evil tho.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
I never thought of Sasuke as evil more like an anti-hero. A certified bad ass who may not always do the right thing but does them for reasons he feels is right. More of an end justifies the means person. Sasuke has never killed anyone besides Orochimaru if you consider a merging of two souls murder. So no Sasuke isn't evil just emo like someone stated above.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
I dont really think he is evil in the traditional sense. A real bad person wouldnt go to such lengths as flat out defying Oro to spare the lives of his would be victims. That fact alone qualifies him in some degree to be considered still good at heart. When he said he now could and would kill Naruto at a whim, I think he was lying to himself as well as the team. Id agree that he wanted to leave the message to just leave him alone.
However, turning his back on Konoha and his friends is the act of a betrayer. Expecially considering where he went to. Turning to someone as evil as Orochimaru clearly shows that he doesnt care about good or evil anymore. The problem with Sasuke is that his mind has been bent by his single motivating goal of revenge. Vengeance is a primitive motive based on hatred and anger. He has let that hatred consume him to the point that he has developed a sense of values that walks a gray line between real good and evil. |

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
Well he is certainly an arrogant bastard I'll tell you that... Since this will be the beginning of the year, we will be getting a whole lot of Sasuke, so I'm sure we'll see his true motives actually take place. Perhaps it is about time Kabuto paid mr. Uchiha a visit.

Re: Sasuke's hidden motive: is he good or bad
for all we know, as we learn more of Sasuke's motives, we may see him have further interactions with Hebi..... and Kabuto returning isn't soo farfetched. Although i think since Oro is still tied to him... we will probably see him a bit later. I wouldn't be surprised if Root returns this year with another motive targeting Sasuke and we see him become further and further distanced from everyone as his path changes in the shinobi world to something more bad than good.
