Anyone who could care less about winning a fight, but have the skill to survive and in most cases come out with a victory deserves to be honored in my book. Shikamaru is the realist of the story, he probably knows his limitations better than anyone and that makes him one of the best shinobi in the village. Even without immense chakra, strength, speed, or overpowering techniques he confides in the true spirit of the warrior whenever engaged in combat. He sees himself and his enemy and makes every move a step closer to the defeat of a foe.

Do I really gotta explain it......what a drag.
