Globalisation
I know shit-all about the subject. That's why I need you guys to inform me ;]
So far I'm against it. Fuck globalisation and the global currency proposition. Culture is what makes us unique and interesting. The US needs to get over themselves and stop trying to establish an egocentric, unified america-based world. The day I see a Mcdonalds residing next to the pyramid of Giza is the day I die.

Re: Globalisation
I base my definition of wiki's description of it. Pretty much the integration of economies/cultures/religions etc on a global scale. What other ones are there?

Re: Globalisation
not wiki O=.......>.<
i think i'll keep it simple and go by the definition you are using lol forget the others XD...itll make it confusing anywho for clarification purposes, the US may seem like they dominate as "hegemon" now, but that really isnt the case. the other super powers have a lot of influence on others [and each other] as well. from what i've learned, it has its pros and cons but the cons outweigh the pros to me. mainly the "power" aspect of it for me <.<... edit: dont forget starbucks and disney >.>

Re: Globalisation
Globalisation appears to be a dirty word only because capitalists have hijacked it. The only thing that appears to be getting globalised are economics, which allows big business to cross national lines and pick which ever laws they want to exploit, i.e. big brand American companies using sweat shops in Asia because they are illegal in the US. Globalisation of health and education can't be bad things. In fact, they should be essential goals.

Re: Globalisation
I am a capitalist but i dont totally agree with globalization because I think a country should retain the ability to manufacture products for themselves. I see how manufacturing jobs have been moved over seas it has gotten so bad here in America that we have lost the ability to make many products ourselves. America's ability to make stuff in large numbers is the reason the allies won ww2. Before anyone says anything yes even the russians needed American manufacturing power to fight against the germans.
The lions share of that manufacturing power that let allies win ww2 has moved to asia. What is worst is its looking more and more like the major asian powers will be on the wrong side in the upcoming war.

Re: Globalisation
@Hickado - Dude u should be careful what u say cuz even tho china has more numbers when it comes to military size if the usa feels like china has it backed into a corner china will be erased from the map. In a do or die war like that do think the USA will think twice about using its vast nuclear arsenal if you dont believe that then just ask japan they know first hand how bloodthirsty the USA can become when backed into corner. They thought the usa was a paper dragon because back then the usa was doing its best to avoid fighting in ww2 but they found out really quick that the usa will fight tooth and nail to protect its self when pushed to it's breaking point.
That may sound cruel but the fact is Americans are a proud people. When it's do or die Americans step up and do whatever it takes for victory. Even if china has its own nukes its wont save them because of MaD the USA has been preparing its self for fighting a nuclear enemy for about 60 years. Even if asia destroys a few american cities america will make sure asia is completely destroyed. A all out war between asia and the usa will be very bloody and ure a fool for thinking its some kind of joke. So think before you make idiotic statements like that because about a third of the world's population will die instantly if all out war breaks out between the usa and asia and thats not counting the people that will die from the fallout that follows.

Re: Globalisation
In theory, uniting cultures would be favorable to erode barriers and misunderstandings that ultimately produce war and tension. But, keep it seperate in some ways, because we should retain our uniqueness, while respecting others'.

Re: Globalisation
@prez: That's true but I think China's gonna make the first move and then with all the other Asian countries backing them up, U.S. will get screwed. And then there's those middle eastern countries that hate America, I doubt they're gonna try to help the U.S. Chances are they'll ally with China. If you think about it, a lot of people are either against or not allied with U.S.
