Ever heard of a lock-in? probably a few people locked in a pub getting drunk til morning? wlel, when my sensei was younger him and his best two pupils were having a meeting with some other heads of schools from different styles. They had a lock in. ther was TKD, kick boxing and some other style, karate I think. My sensei does Aikido. aikido won, pretty much flat out, why? because to attack is to create an opening, and if the person knows how, they can use that opening and destroy you. That's the bottom line. now, why did Aikido win? I hear you ask, because, Aikido is PURELY self defense and my sensei has been training for a very long time, he taught unarmed combat to the US Military. To not attack, and to be perpared for an attack, is to not leave an opening, and to be sensing all your opponents. Aikido will win, if the expertise is there.

Well also if he trained unarmed combat, well.....He really has to be the best. Because the U.S won't let him be teaching crap. So there alone you can tell he would be good. I just think if you through a TKD, JKD, Capoeira, you would have one long fight.

I will not say what style is better until we see a tournament of the best martial artists show what they got then we can say whats better. Anything outside of that is hypothetical day dreaming which is pointless.

JKD would win against TKD or Capoeria!

TKD depends on maintaining distance with its oppoent. Its kicking distance techniques are used to attack and maintain the right distance. Kicking is a form of defense in a way. TKD is strongest in long distance fighting, therefore in order to defeat TKD, you just have to move in and fight in close distance where the kicks are useless. JKD could easily do this because it has good counter-attack theories and techniques. It was based on the best counter-attack martial art - Wing Chun. JKD could counter the kicks of TKD and attack during the most unexpected moment with close distance offensive techniques, e.g. punches. TKD would not be able to defend against the fast and powerful punches of JKD. JKD also has the one-inch punch which was made famous by Bruce Lee. It's a technique where the user can punch with full strength in an inch or less. It was also in the movie Kill Bill 2.

Capoeria would also lose against JKD since it's techniques aren't very powerful or fast. JKD would just keep attacking and Capoeria wouldn't be able to do much. JKD is much attacks faster and it's defense is also better. Capoeria wasn't even a actual martial art. It used to be dance used to entertain people. It wasn't really used for fighting.

TKD is more of a sport. There are rules that limit TKD's full abilities. This gives TKD a disadvantage and a boundary. Capoeria is more of a dance, but JKD is based on street fighting. It's a theory of real-life fighting where there are no rules. It's not a martial art, although many people think it is - it's just a theory of Bruce Lee.

I agree that the results depend a lot on the actual martial artist fighting, but I think JKD has the overall advantages and this affects the results a lot.

Jet Li is Shaolin Kung fu. He used to be a Shaolin monk and he became a movie star after he won the Chinese Wushu Chamionship when he was a kid.

good post. couple of points:

one inch punch is not a full strength punch. it can have impact if done correctly, but not like a proper punch.
the punch in kill bill was a three inch punch (also popularised by bruce lee)
capoeira was a martial art, but the art was disguised as a dance to hide the meaning from brazil's occupiers

As I mentioned before, Jeet Kune Do would most probably win, but capoeira is actually pretty cool. The techniques and attacks looks cool and it's effective in a way because it's so unpredictable.

Does anyone here do capoeria?

oh cool.

Tae Kwon Do vs. Jeet Kune Do vs. Capoeria

Now I will post my opinion.

I am not as familiar with the other fighting styles but I am a black belt in Tae-kwon-do. I test for 2nd degree black belt in 3 weeks.

Neither one of theese is stronger than the others. It all depends on how good the fighter is. Tae-kwon-do is a countering system but it still doesn't make it stronger than any other fighting style. It all depends on which style you like better. Each of them are equally effective in a fight.
