The purpose of the thanking system is actually to cut down on worthless posts that are just "thanks for the comment." And it can also serve as a sort of rep system, cept the thanks are shown publicly. Not the same shit, but only slightly more useful.

As for abuse, I don't see it happening on NM. With reps, no one really sees it, so some faggot can go around repping every member everywhere says "rep me back lol ^__^" and no one knows. If someone did that with thanks, you'd see a thread where under every post you'd see "Thanked by: Faggot, Thanked by: Faggot, Thanked by: Faggot." If that happens, I'd consider it as spam and infract.

If it gets out of hand to the point where there's a friggin "Thank Game V.5" or something, where every post in the thread has thanks from 20+ people, then fuck it and destroy the system.

Considering the above, I'd say to not have the system in the Spam Zone, if possible.

Well, there's no way anyone would know other than the PMer and the PMie(s), so as long as they don't report it, you can't be punished for it. Unless NR17 checks your PMs

@ Hokage- it was a joke with shika, although the joke was for a hot female member of these forums to send me nudes of themselves to get me to add it, not just some random hot chick. I wasn't 100% serious, but I don't turn down nudes, and it would definitely get me to add it quicker.

I don't discriminate, but 18+ would be preferred.

I wouldn't know if it can or not, I'd have to install it first to find out.
