This maybe be really old but...

Wouldn't the Akatsuki leader be Pein himself? I mean, it never showed him when they all assembled to suck out the beasts. Plus, his eyes are similar of that to the rin'negan too...

Pain is the Akatsuki leader, but just a figure head. Madara is the one who founded Akatsuki and who gives the real orders.
We never saw him so that Kishimoto could pull a surprising twist of him actually not being the real leader.
His eyes are not similar to Rin'negan, they are the Rin'negan.
