Remember when I stated vehemently and repetitively that Halo 4 will never happen? Yeah, looks like I may be wrong.

According to this article, Gearbox (Brothers in Arms, Halo PC) will be developing this game for the next Xbox; Halo 4 will be its flagship launch title.

As you all should very well know, I'm a huge Halo fan, so this following statement should not come as a surprise...

No! Do not make this. This Halo arc is better left alone. Keep it a trilogy, because Gearbox will run my beloved game franchise into the ground. No, no, God no. MasterChief has run his course, leave the rest of his journey to the novels and cameo appearances in other media.

Please let this rumor be a hoax. Damn you MS if you go through with this.

Of COURSE there are rumors about halo 4. It's only the most popular FPS series out there, thus there are going to be rumors.

Trey, as vehemently as you hope this is a hoax, the logical part of you must be saying there's a good chance it's true. Halo is an extremely popular fanchise, so if they release a Halo 4, it's going to break records and sell huge amounts of copies even if it sucks. Microsoft won't let a chance to make big money like that slide by. Even if it means ruining the franchise for Halo fans like you and me. Shame.

@darrylgm: No no no, this article is about Halo 4. Halo Wars is something entirely different, and whereas Halo 4 is still a rumor, Halo Wars is confirmed to exist. Also, Halo Wars is an RTS; the game they're talking about in the article is an FPS.

@Satoku: Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Bungie retains the rights to Marathon, if this were a Marathon game, it would be Bungie working on it, not Gearbox.

Edit: Oh yeah, Trey, I almost forgot. This is a bit off-topic, but in another thread, you mentioned Bungie working on a new Halo project set in the Halo universe, but not based on Master Chief. Do you have any more details or articles you could link me to?

What, Halo 4 is Master Chief's journey home or whatever? It's better left as it was, there's no reason for Gearbox to even touch it besides greed and cash.

EDIT: Isn't being code named Halo Blue or something? Rumored to be squad-based? What's the main plot centered around?
