Well is your avatar taken from the Manga? It looks fan-made. I'm pretty sure the rinnengan is supposed to be purple.

I'm fairly certain the image is fan-colored.

I still think it just has to do with the lighting.

Re: Why is Pain gray?

yeah sorry for that ...it is fan colored
his eyes are purple

looking at the screen shot
you see a a flare of light which says there is enough light
maybe the animators did a mistake and will rectify it soon

Re: Why is Pain gray?

Its not purple its a type of grayish tone.. there is a grey with a slight purple tint but still far from purple.

This font is purple.. not the color of his eyes and what does it matter how his skin color is and so what if he has color in manga pages.. they all have pretty much the same color in manga pages. He is still Pein even if he were green.

that is true, I just like the anime to follow the manga as strictly as possible.. But, you're right Pain is Pain no matter what color he is.

Re: Why is Pain gray?

yer its either just shade or maybe the anime is doing it this way because as we know now its a dead body he is using. maybe the grey is to make it more corpsey
