Well he won't be useless if he can pass the info to Hokage.

And to be fair to him,

Even Superman in his place will be called useless

just because Pain is still holding the wild card.

Kishi can just use the wild card and introduce Pain with a krpytonite ability or better yet conveniently let him have one in his pocket for PNJ to kill chars he doesnt need any more.

didnt choji kill one of kakuzus hearts? or was it 2 hit down? i dont think choji is that useless, when father and son crushed asura realm i said heck akimichi clan is really powerful. but it is pain they are battling, and even a jiraiya had to face death during the struggle, look at kakashi now. i say Chouji tried, as did his father, and so did kakashi,so give him a little credit even if they failed in capturing or killing even 1 pain.. and also hope that he doesnt get his fat ass chopped on the way to tsunade so he can deliver his very important task.

Yeah, it is not fair to compare Chouji to Jiraiya or even Kakashi. This is Pain we are talking about. He is arguably the most powerful shinobi in the series.

I agree...

I have to look at it this way...Since such a powerful shinobi like Jiraiya died against Pain, Kishi needed somebody to die to Pain (Chouji's dad), and a regular shinobi to be completely useless (Chouji). If Kishi didn't do this, then its a total slap in the face to Jiraiya who fought head to head against Pain.

you are seeing it the wrong way cause kishi already honored jiraiya's power 5 of them couldn't even kill 1 body jiraiya fought 6 AT ONCE killed 4 and 1 for good.

how can any1 saay chouji isnt useless. all the fat kid had to do was zig zag and he would have been fine. but good ol chouji runs in a straight line and is an easy target. and causes kakashi to use the last of his chakra to save him. thats useless

It would take more than running in a zig zag to throw off Pain.

Choji is no more useless than Ten Ten is a great ninja. At least Choji can use ninjutsu, Ten Ten is the worst ninja in the village since That sound ninja chick who fought with Dosu.

My apologies, but you are the one seeing it the wrong way.

Allow me to explain my point:

I understand that Kishi built up Jiraiya's reputation by having him take on 6 at once, take out 4 (in total), and completely killing one...HOWEVER, would it not be a slap in the face to Jiraiya and contradict everything Kishi did if he didn't have a weaker shinobi die against even one Pain body?

This shows just how powerful Jiraiya was, and just how frightening Pain really is. To have one normal shinobi die against him, another to be helpless, and a shinobi like Kakashi hardly stand up to him, illustrates how Kishi is continually re-establishing how powerful Pain is.
