all i know about the uchiha clan is that itachi was the only true one out of the bunch, madara is a mad man planning to take down konoha, sasuke is power hungry and will stop at nothing to obtain power, even if its destroying the very people who cared for him..

I'll admit I spat out anti-Sasuke bantering just to get people riled up It worked.

I would like to add that one should not mistake the importance of human life with animal life. There is no ego, only fact, that we flock to our own species before any other creature and likewise animals often do the same. We're the dominate species and our intelligence is greater than most animals with exceptions to the mentally disabled. That whole argument aside, you can not justify ethnic cleansing for Itachi to prevent future wars because a true peacekeeper which is what the 3rd was, would never allow it.

If I was to shoot a guess - I dont think the 3rd authorized the mass butchering of the Uchiha. It does not strike me to be within his nature. I'd sooner suspect Danzou or the selfish elders.

On a 3rd thought, even if it WAS the 3rds doing, what is Sasuke going to do about it? The guy is pushing up flowers.

Im not exactly proud of what Itachi did, but I kinda understand why he did it. Knowing the third, he had to of tried to smooth thing over or negotiated. "If he didnt then its just as much his fault" JK. When your left with destroy one or they all go, plus what could lead to a third ninja war. Is it more evil to get rid of half or willingly let them all die? Itachi must've trusted those in power who gave him the orders.

After commiting the uchiha massacre, I think itachi realised the mistake he made. Thats probably when he devoted himself to trying to guide his brother. Now when itachi fought sasuke. He didnt just intend of awakening a MS, but Impart wisdom to his younger more naieve(sp) little brother. who he saw in the same situation he was in years back.

We all make mistakes. Some far bigger than others, but we all make them.

How farcical, "we all make mistakes". "Hey sorry guys, just slaughtered my whole family and everyone that I loved - oops, my bad". Thats not a mistake, thats called murder... which the end does not justify the means. Leading me to believe it was not the 3rd who commissioned the mass obliteration of an entire clan of people. Why would you entrust the one person you could not kill to a sadistic person who ordered you to kill your own family? More reasonable of an explanation would be that the elders or Danzou had him do that and he entrusted Sasuke to the 3rd. But this is side tracking the whole point of this topic.

The Uchiha remind me of why Japans suicide rates are the highest in the world. When your ideals are set so high that they can not be met, you've got a lot of unhappy (no smiles) people. I wonder, to some extent, if Kishi is yo-yo'ing back and forth on the value of such a lifestyle. There have been many critical of some of the tough lifestyles Japanese live and perhaps this was an artistical outlet for him to illustrate it? Far fetched but I feel its worthy of debate.
