The best Kages seem to have someone at their side whom they can lean on like Tsunade & Shizune. Of all the Hokages, they actually helped the most people the most often. The 3rd had no one so he was an overlord without the strength to control the whole village how he wanted (elders, Danzou), so he was kinda not as good for the citizens. Thats why Naruto and Shika are so perfect together, they've gone on missions that took them both to the brink of death, and they almost lost comrades. They're bond is second only to team 7 members. With Shika not wanting to leave Konoha for a promotion, he only can be second to the Hokage. Because of Shizune's assumed death, he's already moved up into her position, the battle just hasn't ended yet thats all. When the dust clears he's #2. Shikamaru Vice President of Konoha until death, coolness.

i mean i hear wat u guys are saying but naruto and shikamaru have their ups and downs were they feel as if one is stronger then the other both of them agreeing all the the time like shizune and tsunade is like a diamond in the rough but they would make a perfect team dont get me wrong its just shikamaru doesnt always agree with everyones belief's lol

or it could mean that shikimaru has a better idea and would rather he go with that one. i see shikamaru doing the paper work and naruto assigning teams for missions. Based on the manga naruto's intelligence has increased based on the anime not as different as when was a kid lol. but i see them both doing a great job. i mean naruto could create a sealing technique which allows him to access the kyuubi's power when ever he wants... that way he could be the leafs secret weapon just like garaa was when he became the kazekage of the hidden village in the sand.

well true i guess because he is a strategist and he thinks 2 or 3 moves ahead and he has an IQ over 200 besides his lack of commitment to hard work i think he will be a team leader and lead teams on missions. But i also think false because he will proly train asuma's Son / Daughter

Kishi's thinking of not showing Asuma's kid, but if he does, it'll be a girl... Shikamaru already knows that the king in a chess game is the unborn kids who will inherit konoha so I think he's definitely going to make his mark on the future generation before settling for an assistant, plus he's awesome with strategies and would probably accomplish the most at a minimal cost to the village.

btw can i join?

well i agree with all of you guys so far but then again i wonder if shikamaru would rly become naruto's assistant thats the question im thinking of....and then yes shikamaru would be a team leader because he will evently like to do wat asuma did but then again he might not because he always hated to help train kids unless a Completely need!

What if Shikamaru was Kakashi's advisor... that'd be a really strong team with two people with insane IQs strategizing... then Shikamaru can lead field teams and Kakashi be teh hokage and ultimate anchor

I'd think after Danzou's arc, Kakashi if alive would be taking that over. Either him or maybe Neji.
