Here's the basic aspects of the PS3:

-Uses Blu-ray discs, which hold 6x the data of current DVDs
-Supports support CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R
-Backwards compatible to the original Playstation
-Slots for Memory Stick Duo, an SD slot, and a compact flash memory slot
-Support for detachable 2.5" Hardrive (not known if it will be standard)
-Uses RSX "Reality Synthesizer" 128bit, 1080p resolution, 512MB of graphics render memory, capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second
-RSX more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra (if purchased today these card would be $1,000 US)
-Support for video chat, Internet access, digital photo viewing, and digital audio and video
-Out of the box support for seven Bluetooth controllers (nearly 24 hour battery life)
-Has two HD outputs and can be hooked up to two side-by-side HDTVs to project video in a 32:9 extra-widescreen format (two screens similar to the DC but WAY better)
-six USB ports (4 front, 2 back)
-Wi-Fi support for the PSP, which can be used as a remote screen or a controller
-Known game line-up so far: Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Tekken 6, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, a new Red Dead Revolver, The Getaway 3, Motor Storm (off-road racing), FPS called Heavenly Sword, Phantom Saga 5, yet another Gundam, FPS named Killing Day, Ni-Oh (martial-arts-themed brawler) and Warhawk 2 (sequal of the original PlayStation game).

wait.. i jus knew abt the new ps3 this morning.. IT'S SOOOOO COOL!!! it looks like an xbox... @_@ i also saw the DMC4/Tekken 6 trailers... doesnt seem to b much difference from the previous ones...

It's also got one Ethernet input, and two outputs, so maybe it could act as a router as well?

Haha the 360 is gonna lose!!! I hope it does anyway, because I've always been a playstation fan and I hate microsoft even though they have really good games. I think that it might be the anti-christ.

Yes you read Gundam, but from the online video I'd say it's based on the old series with the RX-78 in it. Too bad it's not Seed. The Freedom Gundam is SO awesome. PS3 itself will be out in Spring 2006, but no realease date is anounced for Gundam World. Video:

Yeah, Microsoft does have some awesome games on Xbox, but they're such an evil company. Don't worry though, PS3 has twice the graphics render memory of the 360, and Sony is coming out with their own service similar to Xbox Live, which means I'll be getting a job.

No prototype, that's the final design that will be released in the Spring of next year. As for the price, Xbox 360 is going to be selling the simple pack for $300, so I'd expect the PS3 to at least be capable of competing with that, which I'm sure it will.
