That link doesn't say anything about them not being able to cut. And, again, cutting flesh is mostly useless against zombies. It does mention decapitating people though, which is useful for zombies.

And I'd rather have a slightly heavier weapon that's totally reliable over one that might break and leave me raging as I'm getting swarmed by goddamn zombies.

Also, I think leather would make for good zombie armor. Can't bite through a leather jacket, can they? I think that's what I would wear.

I'm sure a 'normal' person could at the very least manage not being a fag and could swing it with enough force to swipe ONE head off.

Best defence is complete avoidance of zombies. If it's necessary to move through a group, which it shouldn't be if you play your cards right, a strong sharp blade of medium length, and an accurate medium-long range rifle are your best friends. Pistol is a good sidearm too, but only if you have no choice to retreat to long range.

@Mibs: Yes, leather is a good choice. Bike leathers are common, durable enough to protect against a desperate case of actually being bitten. If you're lucky. Chainmail is pretty good too, if you can actually get your hands on some. You need the strength to wear it for prolonged periods though, if you're walking/running a lot, it becomes an endurance exercise.

aside from that, i'd prefer 2 1-handed axes with steel picks on the other side of the blade

Those swords are actually only 5-7lbs. The shitty ones that are just for show are 16lbs. Even easier to swing around.

I don't think I could find any chainmail. But I could get leather easily enough. And hunting rifles. And axes. Which are all awesome for zombie battling.

Zombie saliva would get through jeans, I think. I was thinking that wearing leather biker chaps over jeans would be ideal...except they're pretty gay. So I'd just wear jeans. I don't want to look like a faggot while battling.

Will you can avoid will having a shield. when a zombie pops close to you out of nowhere you will be glad to have that shield instead of a naked arm to block him away from your flesh which also gives you a chance to strike rather than falling on the ground panicing.
