and with some sort of ladder made of rope (don't know he english word) this would actually work i think...

and in the UK they have some carriers too or at least a heavy cruiser in the london themse ^^

theoretically, but assuming the military consits of zombies...i think they would not have any use for a carrier ^^

and any other bigger boat in a harbour would be as good as a carrier...grater problem is the food...can't store that much in a smaller boat...

I would say central conflict. I assume we've all been smart enough to survive the inital infection, and are now in the process of seeking safety/shelter, and trying to gather enough resources to survive a calamity that no-one knows will ever even end. General order has broken down, but government associated institutions still exist.

Wal*Mart type store would be the best. They're everywhere. Most have a garden center, which you can use to grow your own food. A gun section full of rifles and ammo. You can barricade the entrances with the shelving, they've got tons of it in the backrooms too. Clothing, pharmacy, pretty much all essentials there right off the bat. Some even have an entire grocery store built into them. Ideal fortress, fuck yeah.

So if you have a decent sized crew you'd want to take one of those over right away. Only thing that sucks is that it'd take a pretty big group to completely take one over. Which is why I'd be willing to gather up some OH guys once shit hits the fan. Since I can count on most of you guys to be manly enough to know how to not fuck up and get everyone killed during a zombie apocalypse.

I live in a decently secluded area though. So I could just hold up at my house. Move all the food and supplies to the second floor, then axe the stairs apart. No zombie is getting up. Go out on the roof and throw down a ladder whenever I need to go collect more food and other supplies. This is what I would do if I couldn't round up a posse.

Also, would hijack myself a garbage truck and one of those big U-hauls. Garbage truck because no legion of zombies is going to flip that, and you can carry non-food shit like gallons of gasoline in the back. And a U-haul for gathering supplies/comrades. Both should be easy to find.
