Quotes for noobs (learn how to break up a quote)
Quote:

So you can post the second bit and i shouldnt be allowed to if i dont tell you? Why be so rude?

Anyways, here is a quotes for noobs guide

1. A basic quote

[*QUOTE][*/QUOTE]

(the * need to be removed for it to work, I put them in so you can see the text) is a basic quote that just wraps something in a quote without saying who quoted it who quoted so

[*QUOTE]this is a quote[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:
this is a quote

Edit: there is a button for this, it looks like a speech bubble. If you select text and then press the button the selected text will automatically be wrapped with the quote tag

2. A quote that says who said it

[*QUOTE=who said it][*/QUOTE] this adds who said the post, manually putting that there can be useful when quoting something external. Example:

[*QUOTE=Mangastream]Remember all you sexy bastards out there, Naruto, Bleach, OP, FT, etc. all on break this week. Feel free to take your rage out on us[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:

3. A quote that says who said it and links to the post where it was said

[*QUOTE=who said it;X][*/QUOTE]

Where X is the post number.

For the post that i originally quoted it would look like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey, how do you break it up please and if your not willingly to tell me, then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]

That is what you get when you press the quote button.

4. Breaking up a quote

Now that you know how quotes work it all boils down to preference, how you want it to look like and how you want to do it.

One way of doing it is copying the latter part of the original quote [*/QUOTE] and then pasting it after each section you break up, write your reply, choose the text you want then paste it after that portion, repeat till you finish the go back and copy then paste the first part of the text at the beginning of each portion of text. Of course you can immediately copy and paste both parts of a poste so that you dont forget one in the end.

The end result would be something like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which without any * would look like

Quote:

Another way of doing it would be to cut and paste the second part of the quote tag after the first section of text you want to seperate then write your reply select the second part and hit he quote button (it looks like a text bubble),if you do that without anything else the end result would be

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which would look like

Quote:

my reply 4

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

I'd post pics of someone else's before and after, but honestly, the whole thing's gross to me. D:

He's going to take my big toes, cut off part of the bone that connects it to the middle of my foot, and move the whole thing closer to my second toe. Then he's going to shave off the awkward bump on the outside of it. Then he's going to put a dead person's bone in my foot so that the toe doesn't get ridiculously shorter than my other toes. Pretty much he's going to make an art project out of my feet.

. The doctor said that it'll help with my walking. I didn't realize I was walking funny until he pointed it out to me, and that I'm doing permanent damage to my ankles, shins and knees.
. It now hurts to walk, in general, so it's gotten to the point where it's interfering with everyday life. I had to quit dance because it's getting ridiculous.
. Every time I put on the Pointe shoes, it would feel like I was being stabbed, and I literally wouldn't be able to move. And that was while ODing on pain killers. Thankfully I don't plan on doing much Ballet/Pointe in the future, but I want to be able to if it makes or breaks me getting a dance job.
. I'm a tap dancer, so I need to be able to use my feet. A lot.
. The surgery will also relieve some of the pains of my plantar fascitus (too lazy to look up the proper spelling), he says.
. There are certain things I physically can't do in dance, since I started. And no one really understood that it was because of the bunions until this year. if I had known it would get to this point so fast, I would have had the surgery way sooner.
. I'm going into musical theatre, so I need to wear character heels. I haven't been able to lately, since I end up crying in pain. Granted, when I fix them and go back to musical theatre, it will reverse the surgery a bit, but he says it should last me for at least 20 years, which is my dance life span anyway.

Being able to wear flip flops and open-toe heels without feeling ashamed is just a little bonus. haha

Jesus I talk a lot. Sorry, I'm just REALLY stressed about it. It feels like my whole life's at stake, because I've been so much effort into building this career opportunity up. To the point where I don't think I can do anything else. But I've started looking into some other things... I found out I'm pretty good at voice acting, since I have a squeaky voice. :3

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

I actually find that really cool. People still try to make a career out of tap dancing... I never knew.

Seriously though, whole surgery thing is neat. It'll be a bitch to be off your feet while recovering, but if it hurts to walk ... it can't get too much worse, right? It'll go fine.

Tap dancing is growing, thankfully. I really love the New York style. I tapped to the opening theme of Cowboy Bebop at a few performances and people freaked out. Especially at the J-pop show I did.
It's like, anywhere in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, dancers and anime cover bands know my name and are "inspired" by me. It's freaky, really. I'm getting a fan base. lol

And I'd rather be completely disabled than to have a foot to limp on and have to go in for surgery twice. D:

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Some doctors had to tighten my muscle groups in my eyes to prevent some serious degrading of my vision. I've had one in both eyes. Also: I was prone to going cross-eyed without my glasses with I was very young and I don't do it now. I had them when I was in Elementary school, a couple years apart.

I'm guessing lasering ... which barely counts. Nevermind.

And I don't know why people get so worked up. You should take some physiology courses and learn the history of surgery. We can do some crazy ass shit now - have you ever actually seen open heart surgery where they divert your blood, cool your body and stop your heart? There are like six tubes being connected up to your heart. And they can do this on new borns. A bit of foot carving can't be nearly as bad.

Yeah, I keep trying to tell myself that, but he and other doctors have said that there's a good chance my dance ability will plummet, and that it'll never be the way it used to be. :/ I'm sure that I'll recover quick though; I'm a fighter.

@ Kina - Ouch. I can't even imagine getting surgery that young. I'd be bawling like a baby.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

I've had surgeries before. You count backwards. Nap time. Wake up kinda sore. Easy shit. No worries.

And once you heal up you'll be good to go, better than before. It's like getting an upgrade. So overall it's a good thing and you'll be happy you did it. Seriously, not even worth worrying about.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

At least this isn't the first surgery I've had before. I had oral surgery, so it was kind of like a warm-up.
I only made it to 98 from 100. :P
I'm worried more about the long recovery than the actual surgery, so I at least won't chicken out.
I'm going to Anime Boston this weekend, though, so it's kind of like my last hurrah before I'm in a wheelchair.
