We're still great friends and on very good terms, so no one here needs to worry about changing how you interact with either of us. Probably the best short explanation I can offer is that our relationship, as it was, was not working so we have ended it to give each of us a chance to start over. We'll see how things go from here, but whatever happens we're never going to start hating each other so you guys don't worry about bullshit, petty feuds you'll have to take sides in.

Well like I said, it's not as though we are at all on bad terms. We both regret that it had to come to this, but agree that it's the best thing for us right now.

Whatever we want? Cool - Mal's perception of global economics and it's impact on geopolitical stability is highly suspect, ignoring the limitations of human labour.

Anyway, yeah - seems you are handing things mature enough and I would disagree with Jaxon - it has nothing to do with being sane people. I have seen sane people reduced to blubbering morons by what they thought was love... that whole love neurotransmitter/hormone addiction thing. I did my best to keep out of most of it, anyway.

Good to know you guys can see the forest for the trees. Somethings just don't last. My wife and I both are of the opinion that marriages should be agreements with renewal dates rather than, as the commercial sector would tell you, "forever". People change, you should never ignore it and force things that aren't working.

Seeing the forest for the trees or them being adult doesn't really have to mean that they will part in peace though. People do change, but that doesn't have to mean you will be cool with every parting in your life. After all, if you held a stone in your pocket for four years and then lost it, you'd feel a bit sorry for it, let alone a person. Depends on the terms of parting.

Mal and Tabs seem to have the best way of parting - through mutual agreement that it is over. Most relationships, unfortunately, don't end that way.
