Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
So I finally got around to setting up my printer to upload the pictures off my phone (my computer doesn't have a MicroSD card port on it and my printer was in storage) and sorted through the 178 pictures I took of various things at Carnival of Chaos. Now for some shots of the festivities.
Excuse any graininess or blur due to the phone only have a 3 megapixel camera and crappy lighting even with the flash. Most of the bands that played are local bands that are using the show to gain some publicity to go beyond bar shows. There were, I think, like 10 bands that weren't local of the 50ish total. The place was a giant clusterfuck of disorganization. It was fun, but disappointing. Hatebreed, Kittie, and Dope all cancelled for different reasons (will explain in the day breakdowns), and several side attractions were cancelled (midget wrestling, lingerie pillow fights, female body oil wrestling, body suspension, and the devil dolls stunt riders) without any announcements to the fans. Each day had several delays that pushed the bands sets back. Only one stage was put up for 50ish bands when it was announced for 3 stages. Several of the bands didn't know how long their sets were so they kept checking with the crew, one band even had their set shut down in the middle of a song (everything but the mic was cut). I had fun, but I'm not sure if I'm going to go to it next year, if it happens. Day 1 Fable of Deceit - My friend's band (the one that sold me the tickets), he's the guitarist (on the right). FoD 1 FoD 2 FoD 3 Paradigm - I have no idea why they were wearing druidic robes, but most of them ditched them after a song or 2 because it was 90 degrees out and there was little in the way of shade. By little I mean there was shade on the stage, sort of, and our tents. They had a good sound to them. Night of 1000 Knives Night 1 Night 2 Night 3 Hollow Drive Singer 1 Singer 2 Singer 3 Singer 4 Singer 5 Lead Guitarist 1 Lead Guitar 2 Lead Guitar 3 Lead Guitar 4 Lead Guitar 5 Next 2 were taken during the solo for their cover of Sevendust's "Black", which this guy did primary vocals for as well. Lead Guitar 6 Lead Guitar 7 Bassist 1 Bassist 2 Bassist 3 Bassist 4 Bassist headbanging Bassist/drummer Last of the bassist shots Drummer (I took like 6 pics of him, but when you're sitting behind a set it's hard to get many different action shots). Mine Enemies Fall (my favorite band of the first day). I met the singer a couple times over the weekend (they were camping at the venue as well), he gave me and my friend a few free tickets to a show they were playing the next weekend, which I had to miss because of work. Dude was cool as hell. Singer 1 Singer 2 Singer 3 Singer 4 First guitarist 1 Both guitarists and bassist headbanging First guitarist 3 First guitarist 4 First guitarist and bassist Bassist 1 Bassist 2 Second guitarist 1 Second guitarist 2 Second guitarist 3 Second guitarist 4 I say "first" and "second" guitarist because I honestly wasn't paying much attention to who was lead and who was rhythm, the music was that good. I'm almost certain the first guitarist was lead, though. Drummer 1 Drummer 2 Drummer, bassist, guitarist. At the end of their set the drummer declared that he was black (it's rare for a black man to be in a metal band, let alone a metal band's drummer), to which everyone cheered. That's all for Day 1. Hatebreed was supposed to headline it, but they cancelled because the band and the guy running the show couldn't agree on a contract so they went their separate ways (after supposedly telling each other to fuck off). Hatebreed then went on to play a free show 20 minutes down the road that same night. Not a damn thing was announced to the people at Carnival. We found out from the friend in Fable of Deceit. |

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Day 2
2 hour delay due to the crew working on Mushroomhead's set and sound checks. So during that time, a small band set up at the back of the camping area and were just jamming. They're called "Mental Breakdown", and were lacking a singer, but it was still cool. Mental Breakdown 1 Mental Breakdown 2 Gravel Pit (I think) Gravel Pit 1 Gravel Pit 2 Gravel Pit 3 Blue Felix (biggest surprisingly good band of the weekend) Singer 1 Singer 2 Singer 3 Singer 4 Singer 5. Btw, he had this weird tendency to spit on the mic, then act like he's beating it off, which is what he was doing in this pic. Singer 6 Singer 7 Singer 8 The singer's mic had a part that looked kinda like brass knuckles on one side of it, there was a spike that pointed down at the bottom of the mic and a spike that pointed away from the mic. So there were times he acted like the mic was a gun (the bottom had an opening to look like a barrel)/needle to inject drugs with. He was also goofy as hell and would randomly try jumping onto the keyboardist's back. Guitarist 1 Guitarist 2 Guitarist 3 Guitarist 4 Guitarist 5 Guitarist 6 Guitarist 7 Guitarist 8 Rhythm Guitarist 1 (in the leather jacket) Rhythm Guitarist 2 Rhythm Guitarist 3 Rhythm Guitarist 4 I just noticed that I didn't get any shots of the bassist by himself, so he's the guy in the white shirt that's painted to look like a prison jumpsuit. Some of these pics will be repeats. Bassist 1 Bassist 2 Bassist/lead guitarist/Drummer Bassist/Singer/Drummer Bassist/Rhythm Guitarist/Singer Singer/Bassist/Drummer Bassist doing backing vocals Keyboard/Samples Shots of the moshpit behind me. There were a couple of chicks that were moshing hard. Moshpit 1 Moshpit 2 Moshpit 3 For a hint as to what the band is like, this video was shot at the show I was attending. Me with most of the band. We were yelling at the bassist because he darted off to their merch tent for something. Me with all of the band. Not sure why this picture is so fuzzy when everything else was relatively clear. Dead by Wednesday DbW 1 DbW 2 Ventana Ventana 1 Ventana 2 Ventana 3 Ventana 4 Ventana 5 Sin Thereom (they tossed out bags of weed to the crowd and played "America, Fuck Yeah!") Sin Thereom 1 Sin Thereom 2 Sin Thereom 3 Sin Thereom 4 Sin Thereom 5 Sin Thereom 6 Sin Thereom 7 Sin Thereom 8 Sin Thereom 9 Next 2 shots were during their cover of "America, Fuck Yeah!" along with the singer for a band that played earlier and whose name escapes me. Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Last, but not least, I present blurry images of Mushroomhead (due in part by the crappy camera on my glorified watch of a phone and the fact that I couldn't maintain any balance for more than 5 seconds standing on the very edge of a moshpit and with dozens of crowd surfers falling on me). The effects with the drums is from water.
Mushroomhead 1 Mushroomhead 2 Mushroomhead 3 Mushroomhead 4 Mushroomhead 5 Mushroomhead 6 Mushroomhead 7 Mushroomhead 8 Mushroomhead 9 Mushroomhead 10 Mushroomhead 11 Mushroomhead 12 Mushroomhead 13 Mushroomhead 14 Mushroomhead 15 That's all for Day 2. Mushroomhead's show was awesome, but would've been better if they had a bigger stage and a longer set (due to the delay they were dropped from a headliner length of more than an hour to about 35-45 minutes). I'm hoping to see them, along with Blue Felix, again in October when they play in Flint, MI. Day 3 was a bust. About 4 local bands played then we were hit by a massive storm (60-70 mph winds, tornado warnings, the works for the Midwest). After the storm cleared, there was at least 4 inches of mud out by the stage (they had that area closed to the fans for a few hours). Kittie and Dope were told to cancel by production (without alerting the fans, I might add). But they intend on making it up to the fans by holding a free show sometime this winter. The local bands were told they could play, but they had to haul their own gear through the mud and set it up themselves. No one in production decided it would've been a good idea to go get some boards or something to put on the mud to make the treks easier. But, my friend and I got to hang out with a member of one of the bands that got screwed out of playing (friend offered her some beer so we were just bullshitting for a couple hours). It started because my friend and I saw her wandering through the camping area in her stage outfit and wanted to get a picture of her, then it evolved to getting a picture with her, then to giving her some beer, then to bullshitting and hanging out for a while. Me with the keyboardist/samples for the local band Breech and Destroy. She is literally 4'10" and weighs 85 pounds. Her posing next to some random car we happened to be walking past. And her raping the car. |

OK... I don't know any of those people. But seriously, no pics of topless chicks? What sort of metal concert was this?

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Oh, I have pics of those, but I don't want to give the baby blues fapping material. I took pics of the wet t-shirt contest on the first night. Then there were a couple of hotties (one from the camp next to mine and the other from across the "road") that let me take a picture of them topless and together.
And for your "I don't know any of those people" comment: with the exception of Hatebreed, Kittie, Dope, Mushroomhead, Blue Felix, and Ventana, all of the bands that played are local to the Southwest Michigan area. Last edited by kael03; 09-06-2011 at 09:28 PM. |
