I believe they are very strong, one of the strongest villages I reckon, back in the Chuunin exams judging from the villages participating, Konoha had the majority, while the Sand and Sound had small representation, I know it is a while back but I think that Konoha would be one of the stronger nations...

Konoha is considered an extremely powerful village. It is noted to have produced some of the strongest of shinobi. From its Jounin down two their detection team, they have a unified and powerful village.

pain took out the entire village...6 ninjas took out a "strong" village?!?!

doesnt matter how strong pain is ...hes utterly outnumbered by ninjas with varieties of techniques, how has he done so much damaage and not a single one of the six were killed by konoha ninjas(except naruto) unless konoha is weak?!?!

where were all the anbus?? it seems the ranks are a bit fucked up ...anbus seem weaker than the chunnins

i really luv Konoha. but, we've read through the manga,
it has played a defensive roll not an offensive one over enemies like Other Village Strong Ninjas, Orochimaru, Akatsuki and now even Sasuke.
it is a sad story.

that's why i doubt Konoha is a strong village. A strong village should play an offensive roll sometimes over its enemies.

but i accept naruto, shikamaru, neji, Shino, Gai sensei, Yakumo Kurama (sorry! only in Anime) are very strong in their specific fields. but i mean the overall roll of the village over enemies.

Konoha's Will of Fire isn't going to be so easily extinguished. Konoha has been in a lot of situations, not of this magnitude of course, but they always seem to come out on top. Like during the Great Ninja War and Orochimaru's attack on Konoha they never let the teachers of the Third and the other Hokages' fade away.

Konoha isn't weak, Aka is that hard to deal with. Look what happened to the sand in the rescue Gaara arc, the entire village could only watch as their kazekage fought and lost. Not to mention the village was almost nuked by C3.

Nagato would have done this to anyother village.

It's considered powerful because of the previous ninja wars. It has produced incredible ninja but it's obvious from the Elder's and 3rd and 5th worries all the time that Konoha is slipping. Certainly they are strong but considering Konoha gave up Hiashi's head (well said that they had) in order to secure a treaty with the hidden cloud they are not entirely comfortable. They also immediately accepted a treaty with the hidden sand and considering they have been invaded twice in three or so years I don't think Konoha is in it's prime right now.

I still say that Konoha is strong, they are losing to Pain and not some idle chump afterall. Plus the rookie 9 are definitely improving from the last generation of people like Iruka and even Kakashi's generation keep commenting about being surpassed. However the next ninja war will be difficult for them if it occurs. Kishi has been hinting for ages that the hidden cloud and other villages like the hidden rain are growing at an incredible rate and it's the outcome of war that will detemine who are the new dominant villages.

yea i guess i can see how a pile of rubble could be strong. konoha is no moa.
they have nothing and have started using civilians to aid in the fight. nothing says weaker then that.
