those hunter nins proably out numbered him or they just got the better of him, maybe he didnt have enough chakra for his unknown t/s jutsu or for any of his most powerful suiton jutsu. thats still a mystery.

Maybe the Hunter nin's weren't hunter nins but clones of White and Black Zetsu. And They took Tobirama like the Kages were fucked in the Summit. Took his chakra and gave it to "Tobi". That's how Madara got Senju DNA and that's what he meant with "Hashirama's power". His brother shares the stuff too. Except for the wood. And we don't see "Tobi" making wood right now, do we (yes, pun also intended). And this may have been the inspiration for his name, as useless and unimportant as it seems.

Oh, and yes, somehow he got Tobirama's L337 H4X Warp-10 skill from his DNA or knowledge or whatever.

I believe the idea Kishimoto was trying to get across was that the 20 ninja were equivalent to S-rank ninja we see now. In order to distract ALL of them, Tobirama would have to go full-out, which he apparently did.

Though the way it was written, and the fact that little is still known about Tobirama causes the reader to question what really happened to him when he left that day. You really get a sense there's still more to be told with him, I didn't buy his 'marching off towards certain death' final moment.

@Sensei: didn't Madara use a bamboo shoot to stab Konan?

Addon to my thought: Kabuto knew all of this. Because he knows about Tobirama and his L337 skills more than anyone else because he was rolling with Oro and his database for years, he knows Tobirama's L337 H4X Warp-10 is unique, so he busted Tobi's ass by summoning Tobirama to scare the shit out of him with his knowledge.

Being able to summon stuff from the Death God is another story, so let's just assume this is what happened cause it sounds cool and all comes together.

It's quite plausable...the zetsu thing it's a little iffy but who knows...actually it's quite a good theory
