I'm not sure if that first sentence is you saying that art has meaning because someone created the art of because someone created the meaning, if it's the latter than that's true. It isn't the art that created that meaning though so why does it deserve that merit in the first place. The person who creates the purpose for a meaningless art deserves credit for creating good out of bad. The dump on a napkin is still meaningless even after someone creates a subjective purpose for it.

No object can choose to give new meaning to itself. The will to change its meaning did not originate in the object so the object can not be credited at all.
