this has been bugging me for a while and NO counting gt it is fake but who is really stronger gohan or goku as we saw goku took down kid buu but that was with the help of majin buu vegita and the namekians where we saw him fight on even terms with majin buu and gohan took on super buu alone totally owned him he gets his power restored half way through the fight plus goteinks and piccolos power and gohan still keeps up an even fight with him and for goku to fight him he had to fuse with vegita using patara and let trunks and gotens fusion where off so based on this information who do you think is stronger

They're almost even, even though Gohan is stronger. Goku said he was gonna bring Buu someone stronger than himself, which was Gotenks. Gohan is clearly stronger, therefore Gohan> Goku.
But Gohan probably still couldn't beat Goku.

The Special One

Gohan is obviously the strongest non-fusion based character at the end of the Kid Buu Saga. After Gohan had his hidden power unleashed by the Old Kai, his entire being surpassed Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form, Gotenks Super Saiyan 3 form, and most certainly Super Buu.

However, Gohan became a scholar, so we are unsure if he kept up with his training, and if he didn't, Goku would be stronger at the end of the series, because Gohan stopped training. But, its still fact that Mystic Gohan was more powerful that Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form. Mystic Gohan is considered to be the strongest character before the final time skip. So that's all that matters really.

This diagram should help:

Super Vegito > Gohan + Super Buu

Gotenks + Kamicolo (I fused their names yeah) + Super Buu > Mystic Gohan

Mystic Gohan > Super Buu

Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks = Super Buu

Super Saiyan 3 Goku < Super Buu

Kamicolo + Super Buu < Goku (my guess is that since Kamicolo's presence weakened Buu so far, that Goku's regular form would be suffice, as Goku powered down to his regular state and prepared to fight him.)

Super Saiyan 3 Goku >=? Fat Buu (It was stated that Goku could have killed him, but due to the issue with timing and the energy required to remain in that super charged state, whether Goku could have killed Fat Buu is uncertain at best.)

Kid Buu < Super Buu

Kid Buu > Fat Buu

Kid Buu > Super Saiyan 3 Goku.

Super Saiyan Goku with Earth based Spirit Bomb > Kid Buu.

From reading the manga and watching the anime, I'm sure that's how it works.

The reason why Mystic Gohan is so effective is because unlike Super Saiyan 3, it does not place as much stress on Gohan as Goku's final transformation does. Goku can only maintain his final transformation for a short time, while Gohan has been seen to fight constantly and fluidly in his form.

And since Gohan can't go super saiyan anymore, due to his latent abilities being raised to the max in every possible way, his body can't possibly get any stronger, so going super saiyan would be impossible.

This gives him an edge against Goku's high drainage of energy in the super saiyan stages.

Just wanted to point out to anyone thinking that DBGT is credible. Here is the proof that it cannot be taken into consideration.

Mystic Gohan was told that he could never ever transform into any SS level ever again, but that his power was incredible in normal form.

In GT, Gohan goes SS as an adult. Utter BS.

Case closed. DBGT is inadmissible in any discussion about true Dragonball lore so to speak. Also it sucked.

Just a quick inquiry, it's been awhile since I have watched DBZ. I thought the whole problem with SSJ3 was that Goku was back on Earth only for a short time, and that SSJ3 would drain away that time faster IIRC. If he were actually alive and used SSJ3, would he not be able to sustain it like any other form?

You are 100% correct. Goku good have beat Buu way before Vegita tried to fight him, but since he was dead he wanted earths warriors to fight. Then later on regretting giving into Vegitas ego. I forget excatly about how it drained him, but it had to do with being dead VS alive.

It kind of goes both ways actually. In the Otherworld, stamina is hardly an issue, so he can maintain his SSJ3 transformation a lot longer. However, once he is in the realm of the living, it places so much stress on his body, that it sped up his time he had on earth.

He still can't maintain the form for too long because he hasn't practiced much when he was on earth. He however, was on par with Fat Buu. Like was said above, he could have killed him, but due to time constraint (if the form canned) and the fact that he'd be leaving, he wanted to put the world's safety in the hands of the next generation.
