Carmichael told Fox News that this event is likely to have been a stretch too far for one man to cope with, and combined with the atmosphere of failure and misery clinging to Tom it is likely that his death was inevitable.

The parents of the deceased are said to be quite calm. Tom's mother has said to have taken the news well, and the family have been seen driving out to visit Wendy Burger in the mean time. Other relatives of Tom have expressed disinterest in the death, his grandfather notably described his son as a, "faggot" and "embarrassment," and said that he was now hoping that the family image could recuperate with the passing of their descendant.
