Rikudo Theory

Found something intresting!, you might find it a good read

To explain everything, I have to talk about things you already know. For example who "Pain" really is.. Nagato!

Rikudo-sage = whoever has the Rinnegan. Nagato is now the current Rikudo-Sage. There is no such thing as a real Rikudo-Sage or orginal Rikudo-Sage instead it is simply whoever has the Rinnegan he/she will become known as the Rikudo-sage. There is plent of evidance to support this. Lets take a look at Rikudo-sage's profile in the Data-book:

"Rikudou Sennin is the ancestor of shinobi, the man who invented all jutsu. He possesses the "Rinnegan" and it's said that he's sent by the heavens when the world is in a turbulent state. He can either bring creation or destruction. His name is transmitted from generation to generation, but it's not even clear whether he actually exists or not."

Now note the three parts that a bolded. Lets look at them one at a time.

1-"He is sent by the heavens when the world is in a turbulent state" What does this imply? It implies that Rikudo didn't just live a single life time die and thats it. It means that Rikudo actually is continiously sent by the heavens at different times to appear when the world is in a turbulent state. Meaning there has been more then one Rikudo-sage during the history of the naruto world. However because Rikudo is just a myth all re-incarnations of Rikudo are either credited to the First Rikudo-sage as a single entity or are lost in myth/legend.

2-"His name is transmitted from generation to generation" This implies that he has exsisted or at least his legend has during each generation of shinobi.

3-"Its not clear whether or not he actually exists". Kishi seems to be very fond of using this sentance when it comes to things that have to do with the Rinnegan. Where have we heard this before...well if you don't remeber the Ame Shinobi jiriaya interigated said the same thing about Pain. Pain is considered a God in Ame, but no ones sure he actually exsists. Now why would this same statement be used to define two seperate entities that only share one common feature(the Rinnegan).

Well if we look at Pain it becomes clear. Does the entity Pain really exist? The Answer is No...Pain is merely the combination of several different shinobi. No matter how you look at it there is no Pain there is truly only Nagato/Rinnegan. So if this same statement is used in referance to Rikudo we can tell that there is no Rikudo-sage, but instead there is only the Shinobi that had the Rinnegan during that time period.

Lets take another look ath that above qoute from the Data-book

"Rikudou Sennin is the ancestor of shinobi, the man who invented all jutsu. He possesses the "Rinnegan" and it's said that he's sent by the heavens when the world is in a turbulent state. He can either bring creation or destruction. His name is transmitted from generation to generation, but it's not even clear whether he actually exists or not."

Where have we heard that before?

http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/373/03/

The same description is given to the Rinnegan itself. It has the power to bring destruction or peace. Why is the Rinnegan given the same description as Rikudo-sage? Because Rikudo-Sage doesn't exsist again only the Rinnegan and the Shinobi/Person that possed it does. Where else have i heard this description before.

Akatsuki, the group that secretly plots to hunt the Jinchuuriki and capture the Bijuu!! Their leader is none other than Pain. In pondering his mysterious true identity, that which serves as a hint is the Rinnegan appearing in his eyes. What will this "god", describing himself as having "attained growth through pain", bring to the world? Will it be "peace", or will it be "destruction"!? (I know it's Madara who is the real leader)

Yes kishi gives the exact same discreption for Pain. Will he bring peace or destruction. Again Pain does not exist just the Rinnegan and Nagato thats why he is given the same description as Rikudo-sage.

Now lets take a look at another of Pain's Entries

The "Rinnegan", the doujutsu (eye technique) said to have been the origin of ninjutsu. Presently, not even a portion of the abilities generated through this most supreme of doujutsu, possesed by Pain, is certain. What is obvious, however, is that the Rinnegan serves as a great hint in identifying who or what Pain truly is. In the past, one of the Sannin, Jiraiya, raised and mentored a young boy named Nagato; the reason being that this boy too was in possession of the Rinnegan. Currently, it is not reasonable to assume that he and Pain are indeed one in the same. Still, judging from Pain's conversation with Jiraiya, and given that Konan is by Pain's side, at the absolute least it is certain that there is some form of connection between Nagato and Pain.

The Rinnegan is stated to have been the orgin of modern day ninjutsu. But again where have i heard that before?

"Rikudou Sennin is the ancestor of shinobi, the man who invented all jutsu. He possesses the "Rinnegan" and it's said that he's sent by the heavens when the world is in a turbulent state. He can either bring creation or destruction. His name is transmitted from generation to generation, but it's not even clear whether he actually exists or not."

Both Rinnegan and Rikudou-Sage are given credit for creating the foundation for moder day Ninjutsu why is that the case? Well again there is no Rikudou-sage there is only the Rinnegan. More evidance....well what does Rikudou-Sage Mean...well Rikudou means six paths and Sage is obivous(so it would be "The Sage of Six Paths"). Where have i heard this before?

"
That which was summoned by Pain was Pain Rikudou, five additional shinobi, each with their own Rinnegan. Not only do the six of them possess unique and fearsome abilities such as "jutsu negation" and "body alteration*", but they also all share eyesight with one another. It is unclear whether or not this awesome power is the product of the Rinnegan. "

Pain Rikudo means the Six Paths of Pain. Rikudo Sage means the Sage of Six Paths the only thing that is different is Sage-Pain. The Six paths refer to the bodies used by Pain adn the Sage respectively. So what does this all mean...lets review. Rikudo doesn't exist and Pain doesn't exist all that does exist is the 6 paths and the Rinnegan. This means that really its the Rinnegan and its will that appears during turbulent times in the hands of its chousen person to bring either peace or destruction to the world. Orginally Rinnegan appeared in a child 500+ years ago with the intent of peace...but the Rinnegan for whatever reason has now appeared in the hands of a child with the intent of destruction. In both cases these children were influence by the Rinnegan's will(This is show when Nagato blacks out and kills the Rock Chuunin) creating duel personalities. The orginal Rinnegan user became the Sage-Six Paths which helped humanity and the current Rinnegan user became the Six Paths of Pain that will destroy humanity.

(This mean that a man with Rinnegan could be born again.. There is most likely going to be a war.

"He is sent by the heavens when the world is in a turbulent state
")

One big point I'm leaning towards is that the Rinnegan user could be sent from heavens again now that the world is in turbulent state.. Cause it is right? If not, it will soon be.

Re: Rikudo Theory

Great read indeed. Then.. If it's true: "He is sent by the heavens when the world is in a turbulent state".. which mean the Rinnegan, that Naruto could awaken it? :P He's the one that will bring peace to the world for sure

Re: Rikudo Theory

Hmm.. I'm not sure about that. The elder frog predicted that Jiraya would raise a student that either would bring destruction or peace to the world.. The same goes for the one sent from heaven with the Rinnegan.

Re: Rikudo Theory

^Nice comparison between Rikudo and Pain.

Here is historical information on The Six Paths if anyone is interested.

Six Paths (Jp. = Rokudō 六道 or Rokudō-rinne 六道輪廻)
Buddhist concept stemming from Hindu philosophies.
In Japan, most commonly referred to as the “Six Paths.

Long before Buddhism's introduction to India, Hindu (Brahman) beliefs and traditions held sway. One important concept was "transmigration," more commonly known in the West as "reincarnation." It holds that all living things die and are reborn again. Your rebirth into the next life will be based on your behavior in your past life. This rebirth occurs again and again. When Buddhism emerged in India around 500 BC, it too stressed this Hindu belief in transmigration, one that still plays a major role in modern Buddhist philosophy. The modern Buddhist concept of Karma is also a byproduct of ancient Hindu beliefs in transmigration and reincarnation.

Among Buddhists, all living beings are born into one of the six states of existence (Samsara in Sanskrit, the cycle of life and death). All are trapped in this wheel of life, as the Tibetans call it. All beings within the six realms are doomed to death and rebirth in a recurring cycle over countless ages -- unless they can break free from desire and attain enlightenment. Further, upon death, all beings are reborn into a lower or a higher realm depending on their actions while still alive. This involves the concept of Karma and Karmic Retribution. The lowest three states are called the three evil paths, or three bad states. The Japanese spellings of all six, plus brief descriptions, are shown below:

1. Beings in Hell. Naraka-gati in Sanskrit. Jigokudō 地獄道 in Japanese. The lowest and worst realm, wracked by torture and characterized by aggression.

2. Hungry GhostHungry Ghosts. Preta-gati in Sanskrit. Gakidō 餓鬼道 in Japanese. The realm of hungry spirits; characterized by great craving and eternal starvation; see below photo/link for “Scroll of the Hungry Ghosts” (Gaki Zōshi 餓鬼草紙)

3. Animals. Tiryagyoni-gati in Sanskrit. Chikushōdō 畜生道 in Japanese. The realm of animals and livestock, characterized by stupidity and servitude.

4. Asura. Asura-gati in Sanskrit. Ashuradō 阿修羅道 in Japanese. The realm of anger, jealousy, and constant war; the Asura (Ashura) are demigods, semi-blessed beings; they are powerful, fierce and quarrelsome; like humans, they are partly good and partly evil. See Hachi Bushu (8 Legions) for details.

5. Humans. Manusya-gati in Sanskrit. Nindō 人道 in Japanese. The human realm; beings who are both good and evil; enlightenment is within their grasp, yet most are blinded and consumed by their desires.

6. Deva. Deva-gati in Sanskrit. Tendō 天道 in Japanese. The realm of heavenly beings filled with pleasure; the deva hold godlike powers; some reign over celestial kingdoms; most live in delightful happiness and splendor; they live for countless ages, but even the Deva belong to the world of suffering (samsara) -- for their powers blind them to the world of suffering and fill them with pride -- and thus even the Deva grow old and die; some say that because their pleasure is greatest, so too is their misery. See also the Tenbu page and Hachi Bushu (8 Legions) page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This topic is much more complicated than I presented above.

If you would like to read up for yourself. Here is the site I have been using CLICK ME (because I hate wikipedia) the past few months to compare the Narutoverse with real life equivalent mythology. If you are interested. It has large data base of fascinating information.

Re: Rikudo Theory

Rikudou Sennin = Sage of the six paths.
Nagato wasn't Rikudou Sennin. To posses the Rinnegan and and being a Sage are not one and the same. There was only one Sage of the six paths. He possesd the rinnegan and had the ability to sense and control natural energy. Nagato could not control natural energy that's why the path that could absorb chakra turned to stone. Having the rinnegan doesn't make you Rikudou Sennin.

EDIT: It is not said that Rikudou Sennin was sent by the heavens. The rinnegan eyes are a tool sent by the heavens. And Rikudou Sennin was actualy a person that possesd that tool and was also a sage that's why only he is remembered as the sage of the six paths and the creator of the ninja world.
