Youngest Hokage Ever???

It has been said many times in the manga that Minato was the youngest person to ever become hokage, However Danzo's recent flashbacks seem to counter this. In his memory he shows a very young Hiruzen receiving the title of hokage from Tobirama. So what's the deal with that? Did kishimoto make an error or did Minato become hokage at an even younger age then Hiruzen. Please listen openly to the following argument.

To start with we got to compare the ages between the 2. I don't know if any official ages were given in the databooks (if someone does know please let us know) but we can generally guess the ages based on looks and other details.

Lets start with hiruzen. Danzo's flashbacks show him in his late teen or early 20's. Tobirama said tomorrow he will become hokage, and I believe that's what happened. Notice how short his hair was and that he was clean shaven. http://beta.onemanga.com/Naruto/481/01/ At this point he seemed about naruto's age and it hadn't appeared that he took any gennin apprentices which a ninja usually does in order to become a jounin. Later on he took the sannin as his gennin apprentices his appearance had changed very little, now sporting a little goatee. http://beta.onemanga.com/Naruto/122/07/ Notice in this panel hiruzen already has his face on the hokage mountain and has just recently began training the sannin, based on their appearance (The sannin graduated from the academy at age 6 which is about how old they seem in the panel). So this proves Hiruzen was hokage before he even trained a gennin team.

Now lets's examine minato. The only good reference to him came during Kakashi Gaiden. At this time Minato had trained his gennin team for at least 2 years. I base this on the databooks saying orbito and rin graduated from the academy at 9 (and would have been asigned to team minato) and became chuunin at age 11. They were chuunin during kakashi gaiden so they were a team for at least 2 years and possibly longer. Minato at this time wasn't hokage yet, but his hair was already longer then Hiruzens http://beta.onemanga.com/Naruto/239/05/ (I mean hiruzen from the danzo flashback). We still don't know how long it was after the war until Minato became hokage. But even of we assume he became hokage immediately after the hiruzen still would have been younger.

Note: Most Jounin in the manga have been shown to take genin apprentices at about the same age, which is mid to late 20's. So if Hiruzen was already Hokage when he began training the sannin, and Minato wasn't hokage when he had been training his team for several years already then that makes it seem like Hiruzen was the youngest hokage.

We don't know how old Hiruzen was but the fact that the fire lords emphasized on minato being so young is pretty much fact that he was the youngest. If hiruzen were younger they'd say Hiruzen was younger when he became hokage (when talking about kakashi's age) but they said minato meaning minato was and remains the youngest...

who cares really put those 2 in their prime on a team and they'd shit tank any group i bet any money on that...

Its never been said who was the youngest Hokage ever. It's hinted that Minato was young for the title however so was Sarutobi. It's hard to figure out who was younger when we don't know ether one's age.

Well, again, the fact that Hiruzen was leading the squad of the future Sannin, as well as leading a squad during the war, indicates that he was most likely older than Minato was at the time that he became Hokage (Minato was 26, IIRC).

Databooks says that Hiruzen in part 1 was 68, and the sennin early in part 1 were 50. So there is a 18 year age gap between them. Databooks also say the sannin all graduated from the academy at age 6. This means Hiruzen would have been 24 when he began training them right? So during the the 2nd ninja war when he actually became hokage he must have been younger then 24. Probably closer to 20.

So then it comes down to how old minato was when he became hokage. All that's known for sure is he wasn't hokage during Kakashi Gaiden. He appeared in his mid 20's then. So how could minato been younger then hiruzen as hokage??? It really doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully we will get more info when sasuke fights the other elders.

LOL, I forgot all about that too. This just makes it even more bazaar. Although I think they were just talking metaphorically. I don't think they would really make him hokage as a kid when they were both still living themselves. More like they saw his potential back then and started training him to one day take the title.

The image of a kid Sarutobi is most likely during Hashirama's speech. Sarutobi was most likely remembering the last times he saw the former Hokages. This was done at different stages of his life.

Anime & Manga are two different things. This is why you don't use one to reinforce the other EVER!

As you can clearly see Sarutobi was simply remembering the Hokages from the past. Both said things about what it means to be Hokage. Both were signs of farewell speeches. While only Tobiramas actually directly refers to Sarutobi as Hokage while Hashirama's is an explanation of why Hashirama is Hokage. Based on that it's clear that these are intended to be different timelines within the story & are both the last words of both these men to Sarutobi.

Tsuande (50) >Shodaime (Older than Nidaime?)(30 - 40) > Nidaime(30 -40) > Minato(30 - 25) > Sarutobi( 15-22) > Naruto Uzumaki AGE 12. Since he defeated Sarutobi with one jutsu. LOLOLOLOLOL

Danzou fails.

Kakashi was 13 during the war.
Minato was in his 20s during the time. Kyuubi showed his face when he was in his late twenties.

Sarutobi looks a little older than the Shippuden Konohamaru back in those days.

there is no direct information concerning who was the youngest hokage. it is implied that minato was the youngest, but it also seems implied that sarutobi became hokage after the fight (we dont know that for sure) it also seems that the hokage face is put on the mountain soon after he/she becomes hokage. and sarutobi is clearly much younger in the flashback than on the mountain. it is possible the second survived being the decoy, he was the hokage so he must have been strong.

i think minato was the youngest, but you never know. its not for sure
