we know sai is considered one of the strongest of his generation but it seems weve only seen his more basic skills for him and his ability.
so is it his strategy and teamwork that puts his skill up there or are we just not seeing him go all out?
he is also the only one we havent seen progress with the exception of his social skills so does this make him more useless than hinata or ten ten?

i see sai as a supreme 4 year old ninja that can never get any better.

first and foremost i would believe SAi will develop some genjutsu skill
somthine like painting a seal on ones body and would create a symbiote planted around ones body...??... i think it would be cool

he is an anbu from root, the guy is a trained assasin, hes not your average shinobi, he has a different mentality than your average shinobi, a different approach to missions, extremely tactical and strategic with his decisions and use of his skills, the guy has taken out jounin from other villages.

who wants to take bets that Sai's only serious fight will be against Sasuke? There's currently no one that is an antagonist that is a proper enough foil to him for him to have his main fight with. Unfortunately, it'll probably be a two-way hype fight, where it makes both characters look good but Sasuke ends up winning...

Sai = huge disappointment. He's a secret assassin from ANBU root, a supposed genius, and yet he fails hard when compared to his peers. Neji has just as much a tactical mind and has displayed stronger or at least capabilities of stronger jutsu than Sai. IMO he's comparable to Sakura, meaning more of a specialist than genius ninja. It gets A LOT worse when you bring Naruto or Sasuke into the picture as comparisons...

The chief difference between him and Neji/Sakura is that we've never seen just what he can do. He has never tried in a fight. Given that he's literally been training his entire life to be a ninja of another calibur to the average shinobi, he should be capable of a lot more. Given that he still has a somewhat major role in the plot, he's most likely going to eventually get a real fight.

So far his best abilities has been his shit talking skills other than that he hasnt really shown of his true abilities other than scouting with his mice and bird he flies on every now and than.

My personal belief is that Sai has already served his purpose for the most part in the story and won't have much more to do. The only new development could be that with the death of Danzo, his tongue seal will be gone and he has some important information to deliver - probably to Kakashi.

Given that what is apparently driving Sai is the development of a true bond, IF he has another major role, it'll be sacrificing himself for the supposed "bond" he has formed with Naruto or whoever. That said, his skills are better suited to spying and assassination - I don't think he'll do so well in a one on one open fight.

Sai has potential, he can make his drawings come to life so that is a huge potential since he might draw anything. The only problem I have with him is he was put to sleep by Sakura, and his outfit is gay. He needs to start wearing normal shirts.

That was a big failure by Kishimoto to make his characters look so weak that all three got put to sleep with one sleeping bomb. Sai went through the training in root so, couldn't he just evade that somehow? They all looked like fools there including Sakura. Kishimoto needed those characters to take a break so he can make team 7 reunion the way he did, but he could have at least make Sakura pull something better/smarter than just "look over there" (drops the sleeping bomb). It is just embarrassing to be a side character in Naruto sometimes.

Sai is a different kind of Ninja then the others are, his style is probably more like real Ninjas

Like infaltrating secret hideouts (orochimarus???), or assinating someone stealthly (Sasuke though this failed ). But Sai is a Ninja like they are supposed to be.

What I am saying is his Ninja way isn't suited for fights out in the open, why else do you thinks ANBU squads exists? They are the Ninja's among the Naruto World Ninja's

Its easier to evade an enemy's attack than to evade an attack from your teammate/comarade because it'll be highly unexpected.

Sorry, Sai simply dosen't impress me at all. His illusions are ink, and unless his opponent is allergic to ink his jutsu's are useless. My bad, he can draw a bird to escape. Other than that he may be a beast with his 'weapon', but that hasn't been shown. Honestly I rate every one of the Konoha nin that participated in the Chuunin exam as a better shinobi... except for Ten-Ten, and maaaaybe Ino, but I'd take her mind transfer over anything I've seen from Sai so far. I'm also not going to overrate him because he's ANBU, besides Danzou who stole 80% of his arsenal, I've seen a couple of cool tricks from all of the ANBU combined, and not seen 1 with fight anyone that I would consider 'Kage' Level, "S" Classed etc.

The difference between Sai and Yamato compared to every other ANBU is this: THEY ARE NAMED CHARACTERS. We've seen all there is to see from Yamato, but Sai has shown virtually none of his potential arsenal.
