Re: Official MMA thread.

Dream scenario would be to see an Werdum vs FEDOR II, then see FEDOR battle Overeem after he wins the tourny. Please, Odin, let this happen.

Re: Official MMA thread.

I'm pretty fucking jazzed up for this WGP. Really looking forward to AA vs Kharitonov. Sergei isn't quite as fast as he used to be, but fuck if he lands one flush on the button, it's lights out for AA.

Hoping this quote is accurate. Translated from some Russian newscast

Quote:
Guys helped us a lot. Fedor accidently injured all his sparring partners. For one - it`s ribs. For another - ruined half of his face..

Re: Official MMA thread.

Some seriously badass grappling in this match http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5QFYp2kTYw I dunno if I would call it the "Greatest Grappling Match Ever", but it's pretty vicious.

Re: Official MMA thread.

that was a pretty sick fight, nakamura really should have done everything in his power to tighten that triangle towards the end of the round, he had it locked in and that would have been the fight.

He won anyway via decision iirc. The guy is a pretty legit submission artist. Off the top of my head, check out his fight with Hideo Tokoro too, it was pretty badass.

Re: Official MMA thread.

the guy is a really sick grappler, the way he goes after an arm and just attacks is ridiculous. i honestly need to watch more mma outside the states. i will probably be going though old fights of his and others.

Re: Official MMA thread.

Melvin is pretty ridiculous. I like that dude.

@grappling vid-Jesus fuck, most dudes would tap to most of that shit. I wouldn't say best grapplin' video ever either, but definitely up there in the not tapping manliness. I was saying "oh gawd damn, please tap dude >_<" a couple of times there. I thought something was going to break.

not taking anything away from melvin, dunham was a very solid win but a gameplan could have won dunham that fight imo. he seemed like he was content to stand with him until he started getting tagged and got rocked. by then it was already too late. the guy is real good on the ground and really should have been working to put melvin in a spot where he would be at a disadvantage. i dont think he would have had too much of a problem getting him down either.

hominick vs aldo sounds like a real good matchup to me, the guy is solid on his feet, he made roop look bad.

Re: Official MMA thread.

Are you kidding me, Guillard had excellent takedown defense in that fight. Dunham didn't have a chance but he's still a good fighter. Cody reminds me of Guida he needs a good camp to fill those holes in his stand up and ground game but damn he didn't want to tap, lots of respect. Also feed Guida to Guillard.

Barry is still lacking that killer instinct, he should've finished the fight by leg kicks at least and man that mexicutioner dude is tough too. Make Barry vs Mitrione happen please.

Mitrione is improving a lot, very quick for a HW makes a good matchup against Velazquez but he's still got ways to go.

Didn't see the Hominick fight but yeah I knew Hominick's striking was gonna give him the W.

Matt Wiman made Miller his bitch, was there any grudge between them? Dude looked like he was on a revenge course.

going to have to respectfully disagree, dunham got rocked pretty fast when hit clean with a right, dropped to his knees and grabbed onto guillard and with his first attempt while being rocked he took him down. guillard gets back to his feet and they are standing again for a little and guillard rocks him again with a clean right hand and at this point its too late when he attempts to take him down again. maybe he couldnt keep him on the ground but taking him down wasnt the problem imo. i dont think a rematch goes down the same way.

couldnt agree more about the barry, the guy doesnt seem to have the killer instinct at times. he could have pushed the fight in the second and finished him.

Re: Official MMA thread.

I dunno, man. Gotta agree with Manta on this one. Melvin was defending that single leg rather well. And when he did finally get taken down with the first single, he maintained good position against the cage and was able to stand up without taking any real damage.

I'd have to watch it again to be positive, because I don't remember the exact details of the takedown and it's defense. But Melvin definitely displayed great balance, and Dunham wasn't disrupting it enough...if I recall correctly. Unless he switched shit up or shot a different takedown, he wasn't going to have an easy time with that single leg.

Of course if he would have taken him down and kept him there, things would have been different. And it looked like his gameplan involved taking Melvin down, judging by the early single leg and how he stuck with it. Shit just didn't go that way, that's all. Melvin is just a really explosive dude, and that's always dangerous.

Re: Official MMA thread.

switching to greg jacksons camp seems to be paying off for guillard. he has always been very dangerous with his hands and explosiveness but he does seem to be fighting smarter. i would like to see them rematch that fight, not saying the results will be different but i think dunham makes it more of a fight in a rematch.
