Hey ninja. You're a grammar freak, right? Cause I have a question. To make this a proper sentence, would it be "the anxiety grew larger and larger", or "the anxiety grew more and more"?

And since I know you're going to ask why I'm asking such a weird question, I'm helping a friend write a short story for school, and neither of us know how to properly write that.

I would say go either way but my English teacher would prefer the "the anxiety grew more and more" part. But in my opinion the former is better. But that's just me reading them out loud.

sounds like your english teacher doesn't have a problem with starting sentences with conjunctions.

There's no conjunction at the beginning. It starts with "The", not a conjunction.

he meant the "But" in your answer, but it seems the sand people haven't heard yet that using "And", "But" and "Or" at the beginning of a scentence is valid. it is very old fashioned to consider this rude. None the less, today many authors, english as well as amercian, use conjunctions at the beginning of a scentense, and i think even the oxford dictionary does.

"Grammar" aside, why the fuck would you say that twice? It sounds like you have to validate the feelings because saying "the anxiety grew" wasn't on point enough the first time.

Also: punctuation on the inside of your quotations if you're American.

What Vanity said, but if you really want to stress it, I would replace "larger" with "greater." I think "large" is generally considered a physical descriptor of size, and "great" an abstract descriptor of intensity.

1st This isn't a matter of validity or Suaveness,genius. It's a matter of right or wrong which is usually what people aim to clarify when talking about Grammar. and what do you mean by "it's very old fashioned to consider this rude"? are you using today's modern english slang as some sort of a reference?

besides..my reply to ninja was an obvious joke,not that i expect you to get that because,will,you're a moron but you shouldn't go through the trouble of attempting to "correct" a joke thinking it will make you look any less of a dumpshit..unless proven that fact is what you aim for.

2nd it's known that authors are creative by nature and they always pursue creating there own special style among many other things,so it's very normal for some authors to break some unfatal grammatical rules to bring the readers something unusal inorder to leave there mark in there reader's heads. So if you're trying something like "people doing it,so that makes it right" then go ahead,it'll feel weird if you didn't debate like the moron you are.

and 3rd try to make it less obvious when you spoof an article you just googled,specially if you're gonna pretend that you know about the matter "all along".
