Quotes for noobs (learn how to break up a quote)

So you can post the second bit and i shouldnt be allowed to if i dont tell you? Why be so rude?

Anyways, here is a quotes for noobs guide

1. A basic quote

[*QUOTE][*/QUOTE]

(the * need to be removed for it to work, I put them in so you can see the text) is a basic quote that just wraps something in a quote without saying who quoted it who quoted so

[*QUOTE]this is a quote[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:
this is a quote

Edit: there is a button for this, it looks like a speech bubble. If you select text and then press the button the selected text will automatically be wrapped with the quote tag

2. A quote that says who said it

[*QUOTE=who said it][*/QUOTE] this adds who said the post, manually putting that there can be useful when quoting something external. Example:

[*QUOTE=Mangastream]Remember all you sexy bastards out there, Naruto, Bleach, OP, FT, etc. all on break this week. Feel free to take your rage out on us[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:

3. A quote that says who said it and links to the post where it was said

[*QUOTE=who said it;X][*/QUOTE]

Where X is the post number.

For the post that i originally quoted it would look like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey, how do you break it up please and if your not willingly to tell me, then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]

That is what you get when you press the quote button.

4. Breaking up a quote

Now that you know how quotes work it all boils down to preference, how you want it to look like and how you want to do it.

One way of doing it is copying the latter part of the original quote [*/QUOTE] and then pasting it after each section you break up, write your reply, choose the text you want then paste it after that portion, repeat till you finish the go back and copy then paste the first part of the text at the beginning of each portion of text. Of course you can immediately copy and paste both parts of a poste so that you dont forget one in the end.

The end result would be something like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which without any * would look like

Another way of doing it would be to cut and paste the second part of the quote tag after the first section of text you want to seperate then write your reply select the second part and hit he quote button (it looks like a text bubble),if you do that without anything else the end result would be

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3

Which would look like

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

How are they more economical? You buy a specialized discs for a specialized machine that has less of a library of games than a computer does.

Plus, I can torrent things on my computer.

Re: Narutard chat thread

@klaung you can do almost all of that stuff on a console as well.
Anyways, what you are saying is kinda irrelevant. It should be obvious that I'm not saying, hey buy a console dont buy a pc at all. I'm saying that it is more economic to have a console and a cheap(er) pc than a gaming suitable PC and no console.

Look at the cost of a console and its lifespan. Look at the cost of the upgrades/new pc's needed to be able to game during same time period.

Re: Narutard chat thread

Um, what? How is having a console more economic? I have played tons of games I never paid for, watched hundreds of movies and spent no cash and listened to GBs of music for free... How the hell did you count that it would be better to have a console on which some game may or may not appear. You can only cry when Capcom announces the next Resident Evil for PS and you have an Xbox, on top of everything else I mentioned back there.

Console life span is limited. look at ps2 or sega. sega is gone and dead and so will ps2. how long ps3 or xbox 360 will last?

and comp last longer. games on pc last longer. look starcraft. how long its been played. you can upgrade your comp and still play old games like baldurs gate or diablo unlike console.

I was talking about new games. But you can still play a sega game, or a ps2 game if you want, nobody is stopping you.

Anyways, you are talking about pc games lasting longer, not pc's, which is the point. How long a PC game lasts doesn't really matter that much.

Older games (like starcraft) matter very little to this debate, since you can play them in my variant (console plus cheap pc).

A gaming (the point of the matter) pc doesn't last longer. I suspect you have a gaming pc. How much does your pc setup cost? Could you play all the games (newer ones) you can play now if you bought a setup for the same money 3-4 years before you bought this one? How much more expensive is your pc than a "normal" pc?

As much as gaming specs lasted short, you can always upgrade bit by bit, not buy the whole thing new.

the hardware and software will constantly be better then before. like the graphic card, motherboard, hardisk, rams. PC will keep evolving. Thats its charm. Gaming is just part of it. PC is not build for one purpose.

I played it too, because my friends orgasmed how fun it was. Well, I don't see it. I like strategy games very much, but building and mining with one person only is a bit boring. So I lost interest pretty quick.

yes, but during the lifetime of a console to have a competent pc that can play new games throughout the whole period you pretty much upgrade everything at least once, some things more than once.

Dunno if you are a PC gamer, but if you are:

How many times have you changed your graphics card in the last 4-5 years (separately or part of a new pc)? Approximately how much did you pay for just the graphics cards in those 4-5 years?

I know that, but a lot of people who have a "gaming pc" dont need the specs for anything else (besides gaming), and everything else can for most people be done on a much cheaper pc. I already said "unless somebody needs it [a good pc] for work or something else]

My reply 1
[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which would look like

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

Re: Narutard chat thread

I changed it once. And it is a lot cheaper then buying a console + all the games for it.

Re: Narutard chat thread

Well you have to buy games for your PC as well, and if you are getting pirate games its not like they aren't available for consoles as well.

Re: Narutard chat thread

Much less available. In fact, you need to chip your console usually, which costs extra cash, if you want to play those pirated games.
