well I remember when I was little I used to occasionally watch gundam on cartoon network I couldn't really follow what was going on back then.

So recently I've started watching the gundam series's and I remember one of them where they stood inside the robots wearing a suit that let them control them and something about the main characters suits arm getting torn off in an episode but other than that I can't remember much I know it aired before gundom sd but any way

does any one know which gundam series this is any help would be appreciated

Hey thier, big fan of Gundam series too, I think the one your talking about is G-gundam as the rest of the series invovled the pilots sitting in chairs inside thier Gundams.

I think in Mobile Fighter G Gundam they control their Gundams differently then the other series by moving around in some weird cockpit and the gundam mimics there actions.I think its the one where they have this big world tournament ,it was really different from all the other Gundam series I saw,I did enjoy it however.

By the way guys, if there are any Gundam 00 fans a theatrical release will be out on September 18 of this month. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: A wakening of the Trailblazer. Should be pretty sweet.

Also, the second episode of Gundam Unicorn (for those who don't know is set in the U.C. timeline three years after the events from Char's Counterattack movie) will be out November 12. I have to double check on that because that's the date Wiki posted. I heard elsewhere it would come out the same month as the theatrical release of the Gundam 00 but we'll see. I'll make a post confirming my information.
