I've been reading Hiro Mashima's previous work, Rave Master, and he's been using a lot of stuff from Rave Master and puts it in Fairy Tail. For isnstants, Plue. Seig Hart looks exactly the same as Jellal, there is even a Oracion Six in Rave Master. I'm only 37 chapters into Rave Master but I wouldn't be surprised if I kept finding out more things he's brought over.

Natsu in general has a uncanny resemblance to Haru. And Grey looks JUST LIKE MUSICA and wears the Rave charm around his neck. So many parallels. It makes the manga that much more enjoyable.

It's only natural for people to use stuff from their previous works. Although I do agree with you, they look too similar... Also can someone please clear this up, what is iron dragon's real fucking name?? Because in certain trains, it's Gajeel, and in others it's like Gazille or some shit... I need to know because it really irritates me...

Also, looks like I'm going to have to go back and re read the manga... I've forgotten parts... we should have an FT section too.

I was merely saying that I noticed it too and had pointed out some additional similarities. Notice how I also included my original post just in case some hadn't seen it before. I think that the parallels are awesome and by no means was I trying to detract from what you wrote (and discovered on your own). We both came to the same conclusion and it is almost certainly a goal of the author to have his fandom take notice of these trans-manga elements.

So it seems the arc after this one will have Fairy Tail as a Dark Guild (hopefully). It's been a long time coming.

PS: Jellal is basically Sieg Hart from Rave. Sieg Hart was reintroduced into Fairy Tail as Jellal as a form of fan service since Sieg Hart was arguably the most popular character in Rave. I think this was even mentioned in some interview awhile back. Lucy is similar to Resha(Elie), Natsu to Haru, & Gray to Musica.

^ yeah i came to those same conclusios when the manga first came out but when gajeel was introduced i got more of a musica vibe from him then gray.

they may become a dark guild after this arc, but they wont be like the other they will still do good jobs and they wil fight off other dark guilds and the council.

How do you figure Fairy Tail will end up as a dark guild? The thought of Fairy Tail being a dark guild while being chased by the new Council sounds very interesting.

I do admit after reading a good portion of Rave Master (current chapter 60) Hiro Mashima did a better job story wise with Rave than Fairy Tail, but Fairy Tail is a lot more captivating and he does a better job getting the reader to get more involved with the characters seeing as they all each have their sense of uniqueness. Like One Piece, Fairy Tail is about friendships and bonds and helping each other out which is what attracted me to this series. Respectively, Rave Master and Fairy Tail are equally great.

@itachikillsnaruto: But Gejeel looks nothing like Musica while Gray looks almost exactly like Musica besides of course the piercings.

@Kakashi87: I wonder if I'm the only one who has read all of Rave? (Spoiler: Haru dies j/k or am I??) Anyway Rave has finished while Fairy Tail is still going strong. I think it's a bit to early to be saying which manga is better overall. As of now I prefer the story of Rave over Fairy Tail but that could change depending on how Hiro decides to advance the plot & his use of character's like Jellal, Gildartz, & Laxus.

PS: About Fairy Tail becoming a dark guild. I've been saying this for a while because of how destructive Fairy Tail can be. I thought for sure something would have went down once a whole town ended up vanishing within their own back yard.

about rave yeah i finished the entire series i perfer rave to fairy tail to at the moment but fairy tail is improving.

Well.. in my situation I never knew mangas existed until I started reading Naruto... so I actually watched the anime of RM from start to finish, dunno if that counts for anything.

NOOO PLATINUM!! You're missing out on so much!! The anime doesn't even begin to come close to the epicness of the actual manga. Not only does it diverge, but it significantly shorter.

Dude, honestly- that manga is more worth reading than I can put into words. Not only will you develop a greater appreciation for Fairy Tail and many of it's inspirations, but Rave is so incredible on its own. The climax in Rave is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous, and it lasts for so long. (That's what she said...) I have yet to find a manga that had me like "OMFG" for such a long spread of chapters. I've commented on this before- but I am SO stoked to see when all of the shit starts culminating and hitting the fan in Fairy Tail, because the author really knows how to go out with a BANG!! So yes, reading Rave Master will also get you even more excited for Fairy Tail when you see what the author is capable of.

Mashima mentions in one of his bonus pages in the volumes for Rave Master that he loves the world of magic and mages. His favorite character was Sieg Hart which is why we seem him again in the form of Jellal. His passion for the world of magic is what inspired Fairy Tail, I'm sure he had this in mind towards the end of writing Fairy Tail. I can't wait to see how he further develops the story. What Fairy Tail needs is one kick ass general plot to follow for the rest of the series to create an engulfing story that begs to be red every week. Why do you think One Piece is so successful? Fairy Tail is on the write tracks, especially with this current arc.

Rave is such an underrated story it's almost sad. The anime didn't do the manga justice to say the least. The ending is so fucking epic you're like damn I can't believe that shit went down like that. The final climax of the final battle can put you to tears(no homo). Hiro is by far a superior author when compared to Kishi & Kubo & it shows in his work with Rave, Monster Hunter Orage(an awesome idea that was sadly short lived), & Fairy Tail.
