What is the longest anime series?

Like the title says "What is the longest anime series?"

I got the idea for this thread from another thread and I thought "Lets ask the whole board."

I think it's the Dragon Ball series(ball, Z, GT) I don't even know how many there but it seems to go on for ever. It would be cool if you could give a total number of episodes per series. I'll edit this post with the series name and total # of eps.

Here goes:

Dragon ball (ball, Z, GT):400-500 eps, plus 13 movies, and 2 or 3 tv specials.(ala Shino)
Case Closed: 380 eps and going + 9 movies
Gundam: Possibly too many to count

I think this is the most, but I know that it's the most I've ever seen. Meitantei Conan(Case Closed) Over 350, and still counting. Damn, how is Aoyama even making money? The show has a rating of over 13% in Japan. I don't even know how! I personally don't think that it's that great of an anime/manga.'

EDIT: I just checked. It's 380 and counting; with 9 movies.

err, DB has like 100 or so eps, DBZ like 270-290, and GT around 60, so about 400-500 eps, plus 13 movies, and 2 or 3 tv specials.

The authors are lazy to make a new series lol and maybe thats why they just continue the series.

How long is One Piece? I saw DBZ, it goes from when Goku is 12 until Pan was a old lady! It is a long series. I hope Naruto is liek that and he gets as old as the Hokage.

Do you even know how old the Hokage is? He's like, almost 100!!! I wouldn't want to see Naruto doing missions over and over and over. DBZ doesn't suck as bad as it should because Dragonball started from the beginning, when Goku was 6. If they did that with Naruto..... Maybe, just maybe, they could've made it into a long series. But, I wouldn't want to see Naruto become like a long series.... It would screw it up. Maybe they could do an ultra-time-jump at the end, the last episode, and show everyone all grown up and whatever, happy with their lives and such.... But I wouldn't want it to be, "Ok, this season will jump ahead 5 years, and this season will be 10 years..." and they just keep on doing time-jumps like in DBZ.... until Naruto becomes an old fart!

Its been finished. In fact theyve shown the entire series atleast 5 times since ive started watching it back in 1998.

Shino has it right. When I worked in a game store,one of reagulars said he used to live in japan when he was a kid and he watched bragon ball z to the end. He said that was like 15 years ago.

IS there any other Long ass anime series out there that those NOT looking to get into a long series should look out for?

I always thought that Inuyasha was the longest anime going with over like 200. I guess I'm wrong.

Inuyasha has 160-something episodes. It's not THAT long. Probably DBZ is the longest.
