Really? I absolutely LOVE Alice In Chains. And I like a lot of Nirvana too. I used to think they were really gay. Then I listened to them. Gotta love that Kirk Cobain. =D Really, the only songs I really super love by them are Seasons in the Sun (well, this wasn't even originally by them) and Drain you. (I can play that one on the guitar.)

Puh...to be honest, I never heard much Nightwish. But well I know the typical songs. They are not bad, and I sometimes listen to them when shuffled in my playlist. So I'd say, listenable.

For similar bands...hm...try Evanescence, Tarja, Epica, Sonata Arctica (<- my entrance to metal). That's all the bands I can recall right now.

Tarja was the original vocalist. She's really good. I'll give her credit where it's due, she has a hell of a voice (she even had a duo with Phil Labonte on her latest album). But I like Anette's voice a lot more.

That came later for me. My friends made me listen so Power/Melodic Metal and I liked it. That was like 6 years ago. Now I listen to Heavy, Death, Trash Metal and Hard Rock (Motörhead for example).

My intro to metal: I was watching a Dragonball Z music video when I was like 12, and was all HOLY SHIT THIS SONG KICKS ASS. It was "The Game" by Disturbed.

Imo, Disturbed has been getting better and better with each album since "Believe". While I do like that album, it's my least favorite and simply served as a base to jump from for Ten Thousand Fists.

Another band I would recommend on top of what Nerox listed would be Lacuna Coil. It's a female led band from Italy and Cristina has a hell of a voice on her. I would recommend Comalies or Karmacode songs for your introduction to them, Shadow Life has a completely different feel to it.

Right, Lacuna Coil, forgot about them. They were on Wacken this year too. Or last year, don't remember.

And yes, Ten Thousand Fists, is imo their best album. Kicks a lot of ass. Still have to see them live though.

Have you heard "Innocence" from their latest album? It's probably my favourite song on Asylum.

Nerox, Disturbed is phenomenal live. Good showmanship and they can actually perform live, and well.

Nerox: Now I generally listen to Death, Heavy, Thrash, Metalcore, a bit of grunge, and some Hard Rock. There are always the classics too, like the Beatles. Love em. I'm pretty flexible, but I will NOT listen to any sort of rap, hip-hop, country, techno, screamo, and other shit like that. I'll listen to Reggae depending on the few bearable songs there are, but the others...Naw. People keep saying As I lay Dying is Screamo, but I don't think so...

Seen them live twice. First time was just when they finished writing "Prayer" and the second time was at Mayhem Fest '08 where they co-headlined with Slipknot. I happen to like Asylum best next to The Sickness.

Asylum is my favorite song off that cd. "Innocence" is one of the hardest songs on the cd, but I think "My Child" actually takes that title.
