DVD burning
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't quie sure where to put it.
I want to archive an anime series on a DVD(and put them in DVD format so I can watch them as a DVD) The files are *.mkv (matroska video file). What program could I use that would let me do this? I have Nero(version?). Do I have to encode them in a different format? I heard a rumor that *.mkv has alternate subs(like a DVD) also, is this true? Has anyone done this before? Too many Questions.

I know that .mkv's do have dual audio and optional subs, but yea, you will have to encode them into a different file format to view them on a DVD player, I think they have to be in MPEG4 format, but I could be wrong. Hokage Inuyasha would be the one to ask that question.

Thanks Shino.
MkV it self cant be put onto dvd with the dual audio option. But you can remove the .avi file from the MKV container by using several different programs. BUt if you want to make a DVD viewable on any dvd player using AVI files pick up Ulead 9.0. It has advanced features that allows you to make custom made DVDs. That lose little quality in the encoding process. I can explain how to remove the .MKV but it took me forever and 100 different tech forums to learn just enough. But here are a couple of links that WILL help you out. This is the MKV home page and Binaries link http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkv...s.html#windows THis link Has your answer but its a little confusing and takes a long time to do. But works. http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?...or+List+Guides And this is just a awesome dummy proff progam that lets you rip and encode DVDs http://www.autogk.me.uk/modules.php?name=Downloads Hope that helps. |

If you are going to make a VCD(video Compact disc) using a CD-r then you can view it on a standalone dvd player. But it depends on the program that you use. I recommend 2 programs 1. DVD Santa(converts all .mkv.ogm or .avi) but does not support dual audio. 2. Use Ulead 9.0 or Sony Vegas. They have excellent editing tools and allow for dummy proff video convertions. There are other programs that alow you to make a vcd but ALOT harder to use. If you have alot of time or are broke, Try to get your hands on Tmpeg. Its a freeware that converts any video file to whatever format you want. But takes a hell of a long time. |
