The Treamcast is actually a legitimately awesome machine. It's a fucking portable Dreamcast. One of the rare occasions a Chinese knock-off is desirable.

That's nice I guess but SNES games are emulated in everything nowadays. No need for cartridges.

Re: Games and all things related

Gearing up ME3. I'm trying to pick the choices that correspond to what I would do in those situations (not necessarily the best possible outcome). I'll live with the consequences; like preserving the Collector Base for instance.

Re: Games and all things related

Preserving the Collector base is the only logical choice. Bioware just wrote an immensely shitty plot for that game.

Shepard is literally the only person in the galaxy with access to the Omega 4 Relay. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to keep the base, and hell, use it as proof to the Council that the Reapers are a threat. Why the hell would you need to hand it over to Cerberus?

Re: Games and all things related

Preserving the Base makes sense, not a lot of people see it that way though. The game is also written so that it's a bad idea, however because apparently, it's either Cerberus' or no one's. Also, Legion's reasoning for destroying it is bullshit because the Reapers didn't expect that we'd find a base keyed to their reproductive methods and re-engineer that kind of technology for our own ends; how would that benefit the Reapers in any way? I like Legion, but he kinda dropped a ball on that one. Humans aren't so primitive that they'd become like the Krogan and have tools of war far exceeding their ability to cope with responsibilities. Illusive Man is dangerous, but he can be dealt with without too much worry considering he's definitely not the worst thing to happen to the galaxy.

Re: Games and all things related

So, how about that Mass Effect 3 demo.

Oh God, what a pile of shit. Seriously. Okay.

So, the introduction makes no fucking sense. I really fucking hope that's a symptom of a truncated demo, rather than how the actual game begins. Because, holy fucking shit.

The dialogue choices are in a lot of cases, confirmed to lead to the same fucking dialogue. Which itself, is mediocre/bad as fuck. Seriously, it's like watching a Michael Bay movie.

The combat is the same as ME2, but glitchy as hell and with the addition of unnecessary concessions to other games. The ability to roll is completely useless. The game now has COD style hit-response indicators, which would be okay if it weren't for the fact that I played two games without them and seemed to be able to shoot shit just fucking fine. It's a clear concession to COD kiddies that need their hand held through the entire game - a vibe this demo is giving off in droves.

The animations are fucking awful. Like, immersion-breakingly bad. Everyone runs like they've cacked themselves. FemShep still has the animation frame of ManShep - so she still moves like a fucking gorilla. And, get this - they've taken the ability to holster your weapon at any time out of the game - because of the memory constraints of consoles. Now you can only do it when Bioware deems it okay to do so. One thing I fucking HATE is having to run around pointing my gun at everything like I'm in South Central.

The hamfisted, blatant trope of including a child to engage an emotional response in the player. If you've played the demo you'll see exactly what I mean. It's fucking ridiculous.

I am loathe to buy this game. I really only want to play it because I've invested so much time and interest in this series already that I feel I need to see the ship sink.

Well, that's extremely depressing. = (

Oh the up side, I've never heard the word "cacked" before. I like it. Vocabulary updated. Fuck yeah.
