Re: Games and all things related
See it from my perspective : I know a lot of females. And among those there are, let's say 30 of them I know very well. Years might have distanced myself from the (too) many people I hand out with but I still see them from time to time, at least on group occasions.
Now, among those 30, most of them have intelligence above average, and the most intelligent ones are against "equal rights". They are like: "Sure there are many problems with how women are treated nowadays, but there is that for men, too." I mean fuck. They GET it. In Serbia, you HAVE to join the army for 6 months to a year. Equal rights would say that women should do the same then. Entrance fee for... whatever really is almost always cheaper for women. When a woman is pregnant she has the right to be absent from her job for some time and not lose the said job. I cannot be pregnant, and I cannot be absent from my job without losing it. Then there is talk like : women are seen as objects, they are doing everything in their feeble little power to get that one job they dream about, even let the men do as they wish with them! Hoo poor them. I would like to fucking whore my way to my dream job. To any good job really. Women who fight for the rights aren't feminists these days, they are normal people who want to set some things strait. Fanatical morons who are like OMG HE SAYZ HE D PLANT A DICK IN HER AND HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW HER WHAT A MANIAC! are what is called a feminist nowadays. It's simple really, women and men ARE different. Sure I hate men who hit women, they should lose the said hand, but at the same time women are becoming so much self involved through those "rights" that their ego is sky high and some of them deserve a lot more then a slap on the face. |

Re: Games and all things related
Seriously? Shrike, I respect you, but you're going to rail against women getting maternity leave that guarantees their job back? C'mon, that's insane. I don't even know how you can make that point - it's not like child rearing is a simple thing people do for fun and time off. (As to the equality, I don't know what you have, but Paternity Leave is becoming more of a thing in Canada. Not that I will get it in a PhD, but I accept that my role is to work and make money so my child can have what she needs.)
Furthermore, maybe your world is different, but how often do women really sleep their way to a better job? Honestly? And even if they do, it's not like they're the only ones in the situation. The bosses (who are still mostly men, despite these whoring women climbing the ladder) allow it to happen. They are as much at fault for this inequality as you see it. And frankly, there's a lot of expectation that for women this is one way up, that if you're not using looks and everything you have to move up in the world, you aren't doing it right (which can lead to rather horrifying environments like what has been starting to come to light in Canada's national police force, the RCMP). That's not equality. In equality, it should even be considered that an employee would ever be promoted on anything but merit. To rail against "they can whore themselves, wish I could" doesn't address the problem. It states "well, you're life's not so bad, you could just have sex and get a better life" which sets up the same sexist caricature that women are just sexual objects. I still contend that you use "feminist" too narrowly. I'd call those who sensibly and calmly address and fight for equality are feminists. But in any cause there will be people who go too far. Let's not dumb down a broad category to redefine a word as it's most negative component.

Shrike, I think what we're trying to say here is - you should get pregnant.

Re: Games and all things related
I don't know if I read right, but from Shrike's post I thought Serbia doesn't have Paternity Leave for him to say that. I say this because Portugal only has that right since 2003, so if it's a fairly new thing here, I wouldn't doubt it's not a thing at all in Serbia.
Speaking of Portugal, we also have law-based different treatment of the genders, but they're easily understandable: women have longer leaves due to pregnancy than men and women can have abortion leaves in case there's a complication in the procedure. Otherwise, there's little patent sexism and we even see many men on what were previously seen as "wife jobs" and vice-versa. Lastly, Shrike's rant about women "getting it easy" on job acquiring is skewed at best, like ACt pointed out. |

Re: Games and all things related
You all took it a bit too seriously. Those weren't points about why feminism sucks, those were simple things to say that men and women are different no matter what. It's like saying men have penises and women have vaginas. That's why I said that women have some options men don't, and vice versa, and still it's crying about their rights.

If you play it like this I can go with many forever alone guys I know who are like "women are horrible, they just go for money or retarded silver tongued guys". What are they going to do? To join Menimist whatever and go on the internet and say "Women try to find their male because they are weak and need to suck someone's blood, death to vaginas!" and shit. The only feminist things that I see these days speak in the most idiotic tongue, again similar to what Num posted, albeit with less tardism, but still retarded. Also, I see an article that says that a woman who is a dentist got her husband sedated and asleep and took out all of his teeth because he cheated on her and then I see female comments like : hahaha! funny as hell! he deserved it!! But if a guy did that he'd be a monster. Not saying he isn't, just saying that the woman who did that is the same monster. The point is, feminism isn't about justice, it's about women wanting to feed their ego. I am curious though, what do the females encounter that isn't equal to men? In Serbia that's barely anything, so I am curious to see. Last edited by Shrike; 03-10-2013 at 02:43 PM. |

Re: Games and all things related
You're being way too general in your appropriation of the word "feminism". It's like me saying Christianity is about hating gays, when in reality a lot of Christians are totally fine with homosexuality.
Also, FUCKING VIDEO GAMES. |

Played the Walking Dead, all 5 episodes. Dunno if any of you guys played it or talked about it, but it's fucking phenomenal. Also, did you play that RE6? It's getting on PC in March 23rd, so I am waiting to try it, but I have a feeling that it will suck hard. Also, RE Revelations will be on PC too. Super happy about that one. |

RE6 is actually pretty fun. Much better in co-op than single player though.

I don't like playing RE in co-op though. It was always a single player game for me. Meh.

Yeah, you're probably going to hate RE6 generally. The Mercenaries mode is great though, if you enjoy that.

Re: Games and all things related
I might. Dunno, didn't play Mercs much in 5, but those minigames like HUNK and Extreme Battle in 2, Mercs in 3 and whatever it was in 4 were pretty good. The minigame in code veronica was horrible though.

Re: Games and all things related
I recently got hold of the Sega Saturn version of the original Resident Evil. It's pretty much the same as the PlayStation version. I think the graphics are slightly better, but the real change is apparently the addition of a battle mode, with a zombie Wesker and a re-colored Tyrant.

Re: Games and all things related
Whaa, how come I never heard of that? Also, I've wanted to ask if any of you played the 2001 game Severance, or the American version which is called Blade of Darkness? Because I have played that hack n slash game when I was a kid, but totally forgot about it until I played it recently again. It's actually one of the best fighting games I have ever played. It's challenging, requires some skill to do combos and you can do lots of hellishly fun stuff like cut an arm or head of an opponent and throw the said limb onto another. The levels are easily better then most other games of the genre.
