episode III on DVD, UMD, but not VHS?

20th Century Fox and LucasFilm will release Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith, expected to be one of the season’s top sellers, on DVD only. Star Wars will be the first major new release to skip VHS, some say a move that is unsurprising because of its heavy DVD audience.

Distribution sources said recent Star Wars releases have seen heavy VHS returns from retailers unable to sell off the tapes. LucasFilm and Fox declined to comment other than to confirm that there would be no VHS version.

If someone doesn't own a DVD player, they don't deserve to watch Episode III. I've got a DVD player, as well as my PS2, and I'll soon won a laptop with a CD/DVD drive. I hate VHS, so I have no problem at all with this.

Technology's getting more and more advanced. Eventually, movie makers will stop making VHS all together. It'll just be DVD, UMD, and maybe they'll make something new in the years to come.

Actually they're upgrading DVDs already, Sony and Toshiba (with other companies sideing up with one or the other) are in a sort of competition to get their new format to be used as the industry standard. Toshiba's got HD-DVDs and Sony's got it's Blu-Ray disc (the two of which will be used the by Xbox 360 and the PS3 respectively). Blu-Ray dics have 25GB capacities and HD-DVDs have 15GB capacities.

I'm saying you should already own a DVD player at this time. DVDs are much better than VHSs.

yep you got it.
best thing about them is that you can buy any game or movie in umd format from any country, and it will still work on your psp. I guess the U means Universal or something to do with it being international

@darck cloud dvd players are as cheap as 20 bucks or even less in some places
@otc2 yah u means universial but only the games work on all psps the movies are region locked
