This week’s Official Wiki Roundup is stacked with some absolutely fantastic games! We’ve got witchcraft, politics in space, shoot ’em ups, forest platformers, post-apocalyptic love children, and gory dismemberment. Needless to say, if you’re looking for a game to entertain you until spring comes around, then look no further!
Danger Gazers
Danger Gazers is a post-apocalyptic rogue-lite top-down twin-stick shooter that answers the question “what would the love child of Enter the Gungeon and The Binding of Isaac look like?” If you’re familiar with rogue-lite/like games, then you’ll find much of the same content in Danger Gazers, such as seven playable characters, random level generation, and permanent unlockables for customizing your play style. Danger Gazers also features local co-op, but if you’re not fortunate enough to have another human being in close proximity to play video games with, then don’t fret! Danger Gazers supports Remote Play Together through Steam, allowing you to play local co-op with a friend over the internet.
Aritana
The chieftain of a tribe of brave warriors has fallen terribly ill when a powerful forest spirit took over his body, so Aritana embarks on a dangerous mission to acquire the sacred feather of a harpy – which is the remaining missing ingredient needed to perform the ancient ritual that will undo the spell placed upon him. Aritana is a platformer that allows players to change stances in order to overcome various obstacles and puzzles. Each of the stances define specific attributes, such as speed, jump force, attacks, and special abilities. There is no doubt that Aritana is a unique entry into the platformer genre!
Covens
Covens: Tournament of Witchcraft is a mobile game of magic and, as it clearly states in the game title, witchcraft. Players will find many similarities in Coven to other mobile titles such as Pokémon Go or Minecraft Earth since it utilizes the real world as its game board, though not only is it filled with other players, there are also benevolent and wicked spirits, places of power, and rare items. You can choose to compete in seasonal tournaments with your customized witch and build a coven of 13 players or an entire hive of hundreds.
Days of War
Days of War is an online FPS which recently left Steam Early Access. Set within World War II, Days of War tries to distinguish itself from the multitude of other period-piece titles by re-imagining the team-based close quarters action of classic World War II multiplayer shooters. The game features up to 32-player matches with a class-based progression system and unlockable content and loadout customization. Be advised that the game does feature gore and dismemberment, so this game is very much not appropriate for all ages.
Drillipedia: Chuhou Joutai
Chuhou Joutai is a unique shooter which draws inspiration from old bullet hell shoot ’em up games. Players will find themselves always facing towards the top of the screen, shooting at anything and everything that movies while evading incoming enemy attacks. The goal of each stage is to defeat the boss in order to progress forward, and players will assume the role of either Susumu Takajima or Kagami Ochiai on a quest to destroy a stronghold associated with the evil terrorist group SPASDOT.
Star Dynasties
Star Dynasties is an upcoming sci-fi strategy game set in a divided galaxy following the destruction of Earth. This game mixes a light empire management strategy layer with a unique procedurally generated narrative of human drama and feudal politics. Player choices will define their story as they take on the role of the head of a political family through multiple generations. Any player who loves strategy games like Endless Space mixed with a good dramatic and political sci-fi story will likely find a lot to love in Star Dynasties!
