Game of Thrones came to Hall H with a blast of joy. Not only did Kristian Narn (Hodor) himself moderate the panel, but Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) brought a little puppy on stage with him that made the entire crowd swoon. But there was plenty of charm to go around with this cast.
Gwendoline Christie won the crowd over when she was asked what law she would enact if Brienne of Tarth was sitting on the Iron Throne. “For women to be knights,” Christie said without missing a beat. When Liam Cunningham was asked if Davos Seaworth would hunt down Melisandre, he gave an appropriately cheeky answer. “If [he] had a gun, he’d probably put a few caps in her ass,” and that gave the audience a good laugh.
Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) also got some love for his musical ability. Anderson performs under the name Raleigh Ritchie and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) got him to sing a little tune. He tried to come up with an original song with the lyric, “calm your nerves,” but the tune was a familiar one. “That was just “Edelweiss”,” referencing the famous piece from The Sound of Music.”
The best question was who each of them would bring back from the dead. So many great answers, but Sophie Turner surprised everyone when she said Joffrey Baratheon. “Jack Gleeson was just so much fun to work with.” And the whole crowd booed. It was in good jest though.
And when talk came around to the eventual spinoffs, Liam Cunningham dropped the big news. “It’s called Better Call Davos.” There was obviously a jovial and light tone to the panel that stood in “stark” contrast to the dark tone of the series. It’s always great to see when the cast and crew of a grim property are such happy people in real life. That’s one of the best parts of coming to Comic-Con and the Game of Thrones panel more than delivered.
Finally, there a preview for the Season 7 episodes to come, with Cersei declaring Daenerys a foe while Jon pondering if she can be an ally.
