The dead are coming to life this summer at Universal Studios Hollywood in a brand new walkthrough experience based on the hit AMC television series The Walking Dead that will open to the general public soon. Park guests will enter the post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead in this all-new year-round attraction. Guests will prepare to fight for survival in a fully immersive journey as they navigate through a world overrun by hungry walkers. They’ll also be following in the footsteps of the human survivors as they battle their way through iconic nightmarish landscapes that bring one of the most popular cable television series in history to life!
The attraction was inspired by the popularity of Universal’s Halloween Horror Night mazes and the fast growing popularity of the show. The walkthrough attraction is full of Walker animatronics, many of which can be recognized from the show, like the Bicycle Girl. Additionally, Universal cast members are dressed-up as walkers and survivors in the experience. At the entrance, there are the remains of a helicopter above the sign with guests being greeted by survivors.
When the guests go inside the building they are in the hallways of the Harrison Memorial Hospital with the infamous “Don’t Open/Dead Inside” written on the doors. They then move on to the breakroom of the Hospital, then to a created outdoor area with the Bicycle Girl. Following that, patrons move onwards to the burning cabin that Daryl Dixon and Beth Greene set fire to in Season 4. After that guests move into an area of prison cells from the West Georgia Correctional Facility and then into the Del Arno Canned Food Plant, which is filled with trucks with walkers inside attached to meathooks. The experience ends in a fenced area with walkers on all sides.
The Attraction is set to open to the public on July 4, 2016.
