Check Out the Upcoming Slate of Movies
This year, Oz Comic-Con Sydney is proud to announce that film studios such as Disney, Sony, Paramount, Universal, and Village Roadshow will all be present promoting their upcoming movies. Attendees can look forward to booths for all the big comic book films like Venom, and blockbusters like the latest installment in the Wizarding World, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. There will also be a special presentation for the new World War II horror Overlord, produced by J.J. Abrams.
10 Years of Marvel Studios
Marvel Studios is bringing its 10-year anniversary celebrations to Sydney Comic-Con. For 10 years, Marvel has built the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a franchise juggernaut of 20 blockbuster films with more on the way. Relive the film that started the MCU with a production artwork gallery from Iron Man. Take a closer look at some of the props, including the Infinity Gauntlet from Avengers: Infinity War.
Marvel will also be premiering their new animated short film MARVEL Rising: Initiation which focuses on the next generation of MARVEL heroes.
Air Guitar Competition
Who amongst us has ever pretended to play an air guitar during an epic rock song? And how many of us thought they were pretty good at? Now it is time to put your skills to the test. Oz Comic-Con Sydney will be hosting an air guitar competition. There are a few rules – no props, no acrobatics, no swearing – but the competition will be judged by legendary guitarist Scott Ian from Anthrax. Grab your (imaginary) guitar and get rocking.
Head here to register for the contest. If you don’t register, then you don’t get to rock.
Championships of Cosplay National Finals
Australia’s most prestigious cosplay contest is happening at Oz Comic-Con Sydney. The finals of the competition will be held at the Sydney event, where the winners from the other Australian regional contests will compete to see who will win the national crown. The lucky winner of the Championships of Cosplay will be flown to the United States to compete in the international leg of the competition. Check out the awesome cosplay talent that will be on display.
Artist Battle
Comics and Anime go head-to-head as two talented artists take part in a draw-off. Marcelo Baez and Queenie Chan face off in a battle of the styles to decide the ultimate visual art. The showdown goes down from 12pm-1pm on Sunday.
Cosplay Meet-Ups
Undeniably one of the best parts of any convention is seeing the amazing cosplay on display. For those attendees looking to find like-minded cosplayers, Oz Comic-Con Sydney is organizing multiple meet-ups. Looking for fellow Star Wars or anime cosplayers?
