It’s just been confirmed that the long-awaited Uncharted movie is actually happening and, what’s more, Tom Holland has been signed up to play the man himself – Nathan Drake.

According to a new report from Deadline, the movie will be a prequel to the Uncharted game series directed by Shawn Levy. The entire movie will take its inspiration from one scene in Uncharted 3 where a young Nathan Drake meets professional rogue, Sullivan, who ends up being his life-long friend.

And anyone who knows that particular mission might be struck by just how similar Holland looks to the young Drake. Just look at those faces:

The scene in question as we’ve mentioned focuses on Sully and Drake’s first meeting. The mission happens early on in the game watching 15-year-old Drake search for Francis Drake’s ring in the Museo Marítimo in Columbia, 20 years before the main storyline is set.

When he finds the ring, Drake sketches it in his journal and notes down the key info, just before a young Sully enters. Drake hides behind a display case and watches him open a lock on the case where the ring is being held. But later, when closing time approaches, museum guards grab Nate and throw him onto the street. It’s here that he spots Sully and decides to follow him, where you learn the hide and cover mechanics that are a mainstay of the game.

Drake tries to steal Sully’s wallet but is caught and it’s then that the pair’s relationship really begins.

Here’s the scene in full:

It’ll be interesting to see if they touch on the backstory content that featured in Uncharted 4. In the latest game, you see Nathan and his brother Sam exploring an old lady’s house in search of their deceased mother’s journals. It’s a lovely scene of early exploring but also looks at the relationship between the two brothers, which is very important to the plot of Uncharted 4.
