Coupled with the hashtag "Prepare to Dine" people are thinking it's connected to the Dark Souls franchise and its tagline "Prepare to Die." Im Jahr 2028 ist der multinationale Megakonzern OmniCorp globaler Marktfhrer fr Robotertechnologie. Die von ihm produzierten Drohnen werden weltweit eingesetzt und sichern OmniCorp ein beachtliches Vermgen. Zu dieser Zeit versucht der engagierte Polizist Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) die steigende Kriminalitt und Korruption in seiner Heimatstadt Detroit mit allen verfgbaren Mitteln zu bekmpfen. Als er im Dienst schwer verletzt wird, ist dies fr OmniCorp die Gelegenheit, seine umstrittene Technologie endlich auch in den USA zum Einsatz zu bringen.Der Plan ist, im von Verbrechen verwsteten Detroit den perfekten Polizisten zu schaffen: einen Gesetzeshter, der halb Mensch und halb Roboter ist. Als Murphy im Krankenhaus erwacht, versteht er, dass er als  unverwundbarer und gleichzeitig kontrollierbarer Prototyp dieser Erfindung den Reichtum von OmniCorp vervielfachen soll.Doch mit einer Sache hat der Konzern dabei nicht gerechnet: Sein Produkt besteht, zumindest in Teilen, aus einem menschlichen Wesen, das sich nicht vollstndig kontrollieren lsst. Und mit Alex Murphy hat OmniCorp eindeutig auf das falsche Versuchsobjekt gesetzt
